spec me

they would take me over budget

There is this kit also, slightly more, but close in price...

Team Group Elite 16GB (2x8GB)

The RAM you previously selected will not fit with the D15. You need to find the height of any RAM you choose... some are obviously too tall, others it's hard to say, as I think a few are just over 40mm.

The Noctua D15 allows RAM up to 37mm (you still have to move one of the fans up a bit to allow this though, as it's only 32mm otherwise). The Dark Rock Pro 3 allows a bit more at 40mm.

Problem there is it's only 2400mhz, it was shown last year that faster ram helps frame rate on skylake this kaby lake.

And I ain't talking about 1-2fps either, some games gained way more.

This cooler is compatible with all ram,

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £53.69
(includes shipping: £8.70)

Where have you read that, because from everything I've read that's just nonsense. 2400 to 3000 sees a MASSIVE FPS increase??? Unless I missed something?

how would I find out and ram clearance

If you go with the D15S or the Phanteks that Stulid linked you don't have to worry about Ram clearance, as the cooler doesn't overhang the ram slots. The Cryorig H5 Universal is another cooler with 100% Ram compatibility.

Yes that will be quiet.

But the case has orange highlights and I cant see another option (you could try asking customer support if they will supply black or silver instead).

ok so I've changed a few parts again

heres the latest spec

  • be quiet Orange Dark Base PRO 900
  • Gigabyte Aorus GA-Z270X-Gaming K5
  • Intel Core i7-7700K Be Quiet. BW003
  • GeIL EVO X 16GB 3200MHz
  • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Premier Pack
  • Samsung 960 PRO Polaris 512GB
  • Seagate ST1000DM003 Barracuda
  • be quiet! DARK POWER PRO 11 850W
  • Microsoft Windows 10 USB
  • Acer 24" Predator XB241H
  • LG GH24NSD0

You don't need an 850W PSU, especially as it's £200. A Platinum rating is good, but 650W is MORE than enough, so save yourself a few quid.

You could also save by simply downloading the Win 10 ISO from Microsoft (legit) and creating your own USB UEFI boot drive with Rufus and any 4GB stick... will take 10 minutes.

I also must question why only a 24" 1080p monitor with a 1080 GPU?? That card deserves more, a lot more!
