Spider-Man (PS4)

Did you pre-order the Spiderman PS4 Pro edition billy? The game will definitely be worth playing if you played the Spiderman 2 movie game on Ps2 as this game is a true successor to that game in my opinion.

I've booked a day off for this game..I am ready to shut myself away in my room playing this game for majority of the day.

I got the PS4 Pro with the game bundled in, but its the standard black console, not the red one!

I think I will give it a whirl, even if I don't like it, i'm sure I can pass it on to somebody else!

Where's the best place to pre-order which has different packages? Wouldn't mind paying a little more to get some nice extras. Game are only offering with post cards which I'm not really fussed on.

Are any decent non shill review people/sites still out there?

Bought Detroit because everyone said it was super, boring as heck.

I like Polygon and Eurogamer. Neither site gives scores for their reviews, though Eurogamer does give a 'recommended' or 'essential' to games they deem worthy, but I've found that generally I agree with their reviews. Metacritic is decent to get a quick idea. Detroit has a 78% average on Metacritic and I'd say that's about right. The average user score is much higher at 87%.

The pre-order bonuses seem fairly standard across the main gaming websites, which seem to be several in-game items such as different outfits, a Spider-Drone gadget, some skill points, and then a PS4 custom theme and PSN avatar. HMV seems to be the cheapest at £44.99 but I don't know what they're like at getting a game to you on release day. Simply Games are £47.85 and I've always got games on time from them, and Shopto are charging £48.85 but you get a steelbook case with the order.

Normally not a good sign when a game has a review embargo........

You say that, but quite a lot of games have embargoes, it's just not always obvious unless you go looking for the date the embargo lifts. For example, God of War had a review embargo (though admittedly it was a week before release), Uncharted 4 had an embargo that only lifted a few days before release, Bloodborne had an embargo that didn't lift until release day, etc. I read that although a review embargo lifting close to release date can sometimes be a sign of a lack of confidence in a game, it's often done so that reviewers don't rush through the game in an attempt to get their review out before anyone else.

Most games tend to leave it right up until launch. That said 1st party games in the past have been know to review really early. Think God of war 4 had fairly early reviews. Then again this is 3rd party but still exclusive so not sure.

Still not too excited as I worry about repetition in games like this and so far I've seen a few hints that this could suffer from that but who knows :D not long until we find out. I'd sooner take the players opinion here over reviews so I'll check back once it's out there

Its not just a puddle, anyone with eyes can see there's a distinct downgrade in the lighting and textures in the game. I doubt it'll matter much to the overall quality of the game but to suggest it's 'just a puddle' is blind fanboy defence.

It also doesn't look great to have the reviews held until release and screenshots are floating around of the game being significantly visually downgraded. This and scummy DLC practices is why I don't pre-order though.

Fanboy defence of what ? I was making a joke about what I read being about a puddle missing.

It wasn't supposed to be a dig at you, there is widespread massive denial of the downgrade though and it's just silly.

Apologies if I came across as offensive or like I was trying to target you.

Just checked this out myself...anyone saying its "just a puddle" needs go get themselves to the opticians lol. Theres a massive difference in the two shots.

Even so itll get 9s across the board and im looking forward to it.

No worries, just had a proper look and it does look like it has had the graphics cut back a fair bit. Hopefully it does not effect gameplay but still a bit of a bummer. The devs seem to deny it though will see on release.

That's concerning :/ and yeah God of war had reviews like week before release and this has on the day, which is also questionable like you guys say.

Oh no I was anticipating this being a visual masterpiece. Am I now mistaken???? Got it preordered but don’t want to pick it up and find it suffering from poor textures, hope the frame rate is solid too.
