SPL Season 2009/10

Never was an attempt at humour more true than it is funny.

A series of decisions cost us today's game so let's look at them -

I am at a complete loss as to why Bougherra was allowed to remain on the pitch with foul after foul going unpunished.

Brown sent off for a tussle that was no more than handbags while Laugherty falls over yet again for no good reason. This was no more than a yellow for both players and in no way, shape or form was it a red card decision.

Keane booted all over the park with no protection from the referee. How many times does it take for a Rangers player to have a kick at him before the ref cautions someone?

It's a tainted title, yet again.

And with the recent story from the "source" at Celtic the complaints will not be taken seriously by anyone, just sounding like sour grapes after probably losing the title.

No doubt it will sound like sour grapes to anyone who dons blue tinted spectacles. Even an ex-Rangers captain is calling for non-Scottish referees to take charge of Old firm games.

I'm friends with an SPL referee and even he fails to see the sense in the decisions I've listed although he gives a little chuckle because he is a Rangers fan himself.

Well from listening to the radio phone in it's not just the club that believes in conspiracies and there was me thinking Rangers fans were just at the wind-up.

I thought the ref handled the game well today. :)

Scotland game tonight. Dont think much of the expected team setup 4-5-1 in a friendly at home. So much for a breath of fresh air.

Tjhis is the expected starting 11

Scotland team: Gordon, Hutton, Caldwell, Webster, Wallace, Robson, Brown, D Fletcher, Thomson, Dorrans, Miller.

wow thread has been unlocked, although it would save me from posting another Aberdeen loss every week if it remained locked ;)

The Czechs are in turmoil at the moment but I still think they will provide a decent test and I will be shocked if it's a pretty game! Czech football is actually worse to watch than Scottish football based on the games I have been to over here :o Although they do ok in Europe.

:p An Aberdeen fan saying they play better football than some of the teams I have seen here... things must be really bad!

Well it's over and the game finished Scotland 1-0 Czech Republic. Was it a good game? I'm not totally sure I care when Scotland win, however we do it is good enough but I couldn't watch it, apparently some game involving Egypt was put on in preference.

Decent result for us even if it was only a friendly and a boost of confidence for Levein's team selection. Also, was interesting to note that most Scotland fans were happy to see Kris Boyd back for a run out. :)

The Hampden friendly hoodoo is broken at last.

One thing was painfully obvious during that game: Craig Levein needs to find a replacement for Kenny Miller. I'm not sure Boyd is the answer. Steven Fletcher maybe?

Kingston and Brown Red cards stand. Cant say I'm surprised. No Ref was gonna admit getting it wrong again after what went on last week. Not that I thought either did get it wrong.

I agree that there was no way the ref was going to admit to a mistake as they were under pressure about their previous mistakes.

Shameful decision though. The second time that Lafferty has thrown himself to the ground pretending to have been headbutted. This time he gets away with it.

Err he was headbutted though weak as it was Brown thrust his head into his chest. Not making an excuse for Lafferty but lets stop pretending Brown did nothing he deserved his red. They both deserved a yellow for the spat leading up to it. Lafferty was smart and stopped Brown wasnt. Kingstons Red also warranted.

Lafferty was smart and stopped? Lafferty threw himself to the ground pretending he was head butted Mav. Same as the last time. Brown did move his head towards his chest, but come on, he didn't headbut him. The only thing that makes it look like a headbut was Lafferty falling theatrically to the ground pretending he was headbutted.

Once again Lafferty feigns injury to get someone sent off. Both should have been yellow carded for their handbags stuff and that would probably have been that if Lafferty didn't throw himself to the ground. He should be ashamed of his part in it. Somehow I don't think he is.
