How would you describe the performance of Scottish teams in Europe recently? Appalling, awful, dire, disastrous, horrendous or humiliating? I think pretty much all of the above.

Dundee Utd and Motherwell I'd describe as admirable. Celtic on the other hand I'd describe as truly god damn awful. I watched the game tonight up until 4-0 and it was embarrassing.

I was hoping that Scottish clubs would do well this season in Europe since our clubs need the cash so much and our co-efficient being so poor now. Won't we be seeing our champions of the SPL having to qualify for the CL group stage now?

Aye.

This time next season every Scottish club could be out of Europe.

I really dread what the state of Scottish football will be in five years time.

What a crap draw.

Personally there is no fixtures that look interesting. :(

Rangers will finish bottom of their group, that is for certain.

nothing like looking on the bright side eh ? :)

what bright side? scottish teams have lost money that they badly needed, scottish football has been going downhill for a few years now and next year could see it hit rock bottom with the champions not qualifying for the champions league. now that will be a huge lump sum of money lost yet again. this money has a knock on effect to the scottish people. the more money they have, the more they can spend on players and their wages. the more money the players have, the more they spend in scotland. going to scottish restaurants, buying clothes from shops in scotland, etc. paying scottish wages from their spending. the country is already in crisis with so many companies relocating to other countries and jobs being lost every day, things are set to get much worse.

Maybe it's being realistic.

Who know's when the National team will next qualify for the wolrd cup or euro's. Personally don't think it will be within the next Fifteen years.

And club football, well the last two season's in Europe have shown what standard the Scottish clubs are at, with no prospect in the near or far future to improve the standard.

Being a Hearts fan, I dread to think what state Hearts will be in five years time. :(

Really bad night for SPL teams last night in Europe :(

Shows how quickly our game has gone downhill.

In 2007/08 - Celtic made the last 16 of the Champions League, Rangers made it to the final of the Europa League and Aberdeen made it to the last 32 of the Europa League

3 years on and Rangers are the only team left in Europe and that's quite possibly only because they didn't have to play any qualifiers. If they did then it's possible (50/50 depending on who they got drawn against) we wouldn't have any Scottish team left in Europe past August!!!

On another note, Fraser Fyvie has been ruled out for the rest of the season :(

After such a good start to the season for Aberdeen, this has potentially wrecked our season already. We are thread bare in the midfield especially in the centre and now if Hartley gets injured we have to rely on Derek Young :(. Also Fyvie was potentially our best player and had the potential to move on to much bigger things so will have to see how he looks next season to see if he can still be that good a player or not.

Yup means we will have a fresh striker after our mid week european nights. :D
Shame for the lad but he has a 4 year deal I'm sure he will have a chance of european nights.

Celtic where hamstrung by two amazingly soft penalties. Twenty minutes in and the tie was back level with only a dodgy challenge outside the box to pin any blame on (although the whistle happy referee gave a penalty).
