SPL season 2012-13

This is the SPL thread, can we keep it on the topic on the SPL only please? There's other threads for Champions League/ Europa League etc.

Back on topic, will a slightly improved Aberdeen get a win at home to Saint Mirren, or will it be another case of promising potential, but disappointing performance? Ross County will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 39 (?) games unbeaten in the League, but coming off the back of a 4-1 cup defeat. As well as a top of the table clash between Celtic and Hibs.

Top of the table clash tomorrow, should be a good game.

Might even see a new signing or two in each team.

Hopefully Watt will get a start, as he has been very impressive so far

Saturday
Aberdeen v St Mirren 15:00
Celtic v Hibernian 15:00
Ross County v Kilmarnock 15:00
St Johnstone v Dundee Utd 15:00

Sunday
Hearts v Dundee 15:00
Motherwell v Inverness CT 15:00

Im expecting wins for Celtic and Hearts, all other games will end in draws

Yeah - looks like a real good talent

Would love to see him get a start - whats happening to Stokes these days though - he is normally an excellent partner for Hooper

Stokes is injured at the moment.

Bangura and Murphy both away on loan. Leaves Hooper and Watt as only recognised strikers (not including Sammy)

All Saturday games ending in draws. Nearly right ;)

Celtic-Hibs game was a great game, Celtic should have wrapped it up in first half, but credit to Hibs.

Aberdeen yet to score at home this season, 270mins of goalless action at Pittodrie. Ross County unbeaten in 39 games.

Hearts and Motherwell could go top tomorrow with wins

You might be correct. However, for that to be the case another teams consistency will have to greatly increase and Celtic's would have to decrease. With either Rangers or Celtic winning the title in all 14 seasons of the SPL so far, the winning margin between either of the league winners and the closest non Old Firm challengers have been as follows:

31, 30, 34, 27, 29, 19, 16, 32, 30, 34, 45, 31, 36 & 20

Giving an average points difference between the league winner and the next best side (outside of either Rangers or Celtic depending on winner) as 29.57.

Unless a side can display a greater level of consistency, or Celtic's takes a major dive, then it is likely that the points difference will be around the 30 point mark. Given such statistic, then it would seem Hartson's prediction is quite realistic.

Arithmetically it should be closer as both Rangers and Celtic took 12 points off most teams leaving a 24 point gap from games against the two since there is only 1 giant team this year 2nd place should be closer to Celtic as they themselves can only open a 12 point gap v 2nd place and Rangers have been replaced by a weak Dundee side.

I think Celtics will take a dive but will still win.

Without the pressure of Rangers being there, they will be less effective, I am sure

I think you are correct, we've already dropped 4 points this season

Also with the CL games, Lenny can afford to drop our key men and play the kids

Don't you just love half storys. What's up with him?

He has a degenerative hip condition which is giving him a lot of pain, Celtic are talking about only playing him in the CL as his body isnt up to playing week in week out

In all likelihood he'll need a hip replacement when he retires

Not good. Perhaps he should think of his future health and stop playing now unless its not that bad yet.

Not good at all. By not playing any other games, would he be fit enough for CL games if he isnt training?

Well just back form Tanadice and a draw was probably a fair result given the circumstances. We were missing something up front tonight with Daly injured, with Ross County playing for the draw it was not the most entertaining of events.
