SPL season 2012-13

Has the Celtic vs Dundee Utd match been given a new date yet? Wouldnt like Utd to get to accustomed to being top of the SPL ;)

Roll on tonights CL qualifier...should be a cracker

Anyone here going to the Aberdeen Morton game tomorrow?

I'm going with my brother, first Aberdeen game I've seen since 2004 ish. I'm not a very good fan! :o

Haven't heard yet. Will probably be when we have "hard" games and Celtic have "easy" games either side of it. :D

Did anyone hear John Hartson today on Talksport? He claims without doubt that Celtic will win the league and by at least 25-30 points. Whilst I think they will win it I cant see it being by that much.

They finished last season 31 points ahead of their nearest challengers (Rangers aside). Why would it be any different this season? Sure, Rangers aren't there to potentially take points off their challengers, but likewise, they aren't there to potentially take points off Celtic either.

What other teams need is consistency, something that no other SPL club has apart from Celtic. I would expect on that basis for Celtic to win the league quite confortably, maybe 15pts.

Celtic and Rangers have won the League gathering over 90pts in recent seasons..so a team would need their best season ever points wise to stay within 15 odd points.

So in short, Hartson is right :)

Amazing result for Celtic tonight. Two away wins in europe on the trot, who would have thought it :)

Barring a disaster, here we come into the CL and £15m windfall.

I still do not see them winning the league by 30 points or more. If it happens i will be the first to say I was wrong but I do not think they will. I spoke with a few Celtic fans last night who actually agreed with me.

Lower - I reckon if will be in teens !

You might be correct. However, for that to be the case another teams consistency will have to greatly increase and Celtic's would have to decrease. With either Rangers or Celtic winning the title in all 14 seasons of the SPL so far, the winning margin between either of the league winners and the closest non Old Firm challengers have been as follows:

31, 30, 34, 27, 29, 19, 16, 32, 30, 34, 45, 31, 36 & 20

Giving an average points difference between the league winner and the next best side (outside of either Rangers or Celtic depending on winner) as 29.57.

Unless a side can display a greater level of consistency, or Celtic's takes a major dive, then it is likely that the points difference will be around the 30 point mark. Given such statistic, then it would seem Hartson's prediction is quite realistic.

I think Celtics will take a dive but will still win.

Without the pressure of Rangers being there, they will be less effective, I am sure

If Ki goes to Swansea, thats a good bit of money in the coffers this season

So Aberdeen are through to the next round in the cup. They were pretty promising in the first half, but without much ability to actually finish anything (their problem for years). Fraser was terrific on the wing, but he just didn't have the support when it came to getting the ball into the box. It came quite undone in the 2nd half so into extra time at 0 - 0.

They came out and were a totally different team, brilliant passing, some great control and great thought and the ball stayed in front of Morton's box for most of the half. Then the second half, a good goal from Rae brought around from high tempo play and then Vernon got a scrappy second.

The ref wasn't great though, I must admit and awarded a few poor decisions against Aberdeen. All in, quite a good match and I enjoyed it!

Watched the Inverness-Celtic game yesterday and pleased to see us notch up an easy win - normally very tough up there and, with a patched up side, it was good to see some youngsters getting a shot.

All eyes on the champs league qualifier on Wednesday now. Fingers crossed

Was really pleased with all things Celtic yesterday but Inverness were terrible, they have gone backwards, I didn't see anything of merit from them.

Also I think if they want to improve the quality of football in Scotland, the referees need to change and be a lot tougher on tackling. Literally about a dozen tackles yesterday that were not given as fouls and I have seen be sendings off in other leagues! I don't know what this is like for other SPL teams in their games?

Big game at Parkhead tomorrow, the usual 15mil reported up for grabs for CL qualification. Really looking forward to the game, expecting a two goal victory, but as long as we get through, doesnt matter the result
