Difference of oppinions i guess.
He just doesn't look that good to me, 2 good games in Europe and suddenly he's the welsh Messi.
I mean, Pennant managed to look threatening for us about as often as Bale has for spurs this season.

The end of last he did look quite tasty though, ill give.

he could be great. given a year or two training with the right manager. I'd be happy to take him at United, just not at the expense of an immediate first team certainty.

The reaction in the media in the aftermath of the Inter games was a huge overreaction but this hate he's got (from some quarters) because of it is equally ridiculous.

Comparisons to Pennant are ridiculous too. The only thing Pennant gave us was width; he didn't have great pace, his decision making was terrible, he'd beat the fullback and would try and beat him again before losing the ball and his delivery was equally as bad. Bale has blistering pace (which we lack), he's direct (maybe a bit too direct at times) and while his delivery isn't of Beckham standards, there aren't many wide players about today with noticeably better delivery than him.

Like Dan says, he needs a bit of tweaking but he's got all the raw materials to be an excellent player.
 
So difficult to call who's going down, with only 2 games to go now. Crap result for us today against Newcastle. Yet another red card and unable to get a positive result away from home. So important for us to pick some points next week at home against Fulham. We been lucky so far as teams behind us are only getting draws, but its stupid to keep your fate in other teams hands.

I think that's a good assessment. He has all the physical attributes to succeed and obviously has technical quality too, he just needs to demonstrate the latter a bit more. I don't think he has enough about him to become a world class player but he will definitely be up there.

At the moment, I wouldn't rate him above Valencia as I see them as similar players but there's 4 years difference between them and that gives Bale a lot of room for improvement (potentially).

I so knew it was coming. :p

My Dad was watching it too and I said to him, "I bet Gomes flies out of his goal to catch this..."

He gets massively excited when he makes a good save.
