Spring meet 5th April 2014

Yea, last time we didn't lose anyone, at one point it broke into 2 groups for a short time. But common sense normally prevails.

We will stop off for petrol at least halfway where we can chill for 30 minutes allowing anybody lost time to catch up.

The part on that vid that stuck out most for me was the fill up even if only half full.

Many times mates of mine when I used to ride in groups wouldn't bother filling up if they had half a tank. This slowly resulted in multiple fuel stops for the entire group. If everyone is full, everyone can achieve the same distance if it's reasonable. Typically, if you need fuel, just signal someone and they can normally signal ahead and so on so the leader knows to stop for fuel.

Put me down for a 'provisional' yes  (Have my daughter at weekends, need to sort out with her which ones)

I'll be on my GSXR1000

Put you under maybe mate :D

looking forward to this :D not to long now. :)

Me too!!! Starting to rack up the goodies for the trip as well. Just slapped down far too much money on a full Termignoni system, including racing ECU, race air filter and comically a removable baffle... £1,500 :( Most I've ever spent on a 'upgrade' for a bike. But finding a second hand one is just impossible. BUT, it's from the original bike budget as I put aside enough to buy a new Panigale 1199 or new Multistrada 1200S.

Also, my girlfriend will hopefully be fully kitted out so she can join, also a GPS unit which will no doubt be handy :)

Excited! And the days are getting longer, which is a relief.

Sat Nav ordered :D Hopefully the 'windy roads' option will shine when we get closer to the shore.

Excited!

If I can save the pennies, I'll be splurging on an Arrow 3-1 for the Speed triple :)

£1000 though

I was going to ***** £1,500 on a full termi system, but I need to save this year. So won't happen. I'm happy with the standard for now. I might divulge in a full SC Project system, but who knows.

H café for 9 o clock:eek: don't you like a lay in?

if I can follow kitkat,i might consider coming

pfffft, man up :P

It's a long old journey.

I was going to ask if anyone wants to suggest a second meet point on the way down from Reading for those south of us. 0900 is an early start, by the time we get going it will probably be around 1000 anyway.

I'm a maybe, heading from London on an STR

Come on sunny weather

***** is an STR?

Also, I too can't wait for sunny weather. I am SICK of the rain.

I got some new boots at the show, not the ones I wanted. But they will do. Sidi Black Rain or what ever they are called. I wanted the B2 Gore-tex but couldn't find my size.

They will do, but I still want the B2.

Good morning all!!!! Can I get some input please, this is a route I'm looking at doing. With a mid ride stop off at Box Hill for those a little further south that want to join in.

So starting at H Cafe at 0900, at Box Hill for around half 10/11. Then down to Beachy head then Brighton to get grub and end the ride (I'm returning to Reading via Motorways, total of 1hr and 30 mins). I'm expecting to be in Brighton around 2pm, 3pm at the latest.

Here is the map route. Any alternative/input etc would be wonderful!

Looks good, gonna be a long day for some though, we have to get to H Cafe first :p

Yea, I'm a bit worried about the length, it's a full day out, not a morning blast.

We could leave it until later in the morning, 1000 instead of 0900? Not so harsh then? Still plenty of day and time. I'm factoring the amount of time MAX is 5 hours until we hit Brighton beach. And at that point, you are no more than 2 hours from H cafe via motorways on the way home.

I'm hoping to make Box Hill a secondary meetup point for those further south to join.

EDIT: The other option for a more 'biker friendly' route with more fun roads is to skip Box Hill entirely and do the roads between Guildford and Horsham...

looks good to me, i'm happy with an all'dayer. cant wait.

Hope you sort something fireskull :(

Finishing off the route in Tyre for my GPS, I've chopped out Box Hill so we can have more fun on the roads :D

I will send out my mobile number and give it to those that want it closer to the time, I have my Scala rider comm system so can take calls whilst riding for those that want to join on the way.

Done, 10am start. I would expect we will stop off in Horsham for fuel and maybe meet others there?

Not looked at the forecast... I'm too nervous lol.

I tested out the 'windy roads' option on the GPS from Reading to H cafe and back again yesterday, it took me down some VERY small B roads with road surface equal to that of a washboard... So I will have to dial the 'extreme' roads back a little lol.

But still, took me places that I had never ridden before and with ease! Just need to sort oil and chain out then my bike is ready.

I hope weather is good. I will head to the H cafe regardless of weather :)

BUT, bad news, I got in some fisty cuff scuffle with a chap who treated a woman terribly... I got cautioned on assult. Typical. Anyway, his dirty gob infected a deep wound his teeth caused.

As a result, my right hand is the size of a melon. This happened on Tuesday night, hospital gave me some antibiotics for the infection after confirming no breaks or dislocates from the x-ray and the swelling is going down slowly.

Hopefully I will be able to get my gloves on. Already had 3 days of work and as a contractor... It's hurt my wallet :(

p.s. Wrote this entire message with my left hand... It's a useless hand lol
