Stalker 2

Was hoping to play for an hour whilst the little one is napping but I guess not since the patch seems to want to redownload the game.
That's what happened at my end. It didn't take as long as when I first downloaded the game, but it seemed like a lot more than 13 GB!

I did the input.ini entry but didn't read protect the file. Tried it again, read protect it's still slow- probably due to terribly low fps, I'll leave until get new GPU no point not enjoying a new game on such low fps
Ah yeah if your FPS are that low then it'll definitely be more laggy. Worth waiting, it's a great game.

Anyone else finding the game too easy after a while? I have so much food, med kits and bullets saved up that I'm starting to consider selling half of it.

I've upped the difficulty to veteran and just slaughtered a whole swarm of different mutants with relative ease.

Quite surprised at how relatively easy it is considering Stalker game's reputations.
If you were playing on veteran since the startr it would be different.

The difficulty level also changes how much ammo, med packs etc you find in the world.

Yesterdays patch probably swung too much too easy mode though and they will likely buff things a bit more

Seems the latest patch fixed the Zalissya/monolith bug? Just loaded up to be given the message that Zalissya have successfully fended off the attack and is now safe  Yet to go back to check mind.

Nevermind just been told I'm not welcome back there!

I think the difficulty when fighting mutants and to an extent humans is fine in stalker mode but there are just way too many resources everywhere. So far on veteran I'm still finding plenty of everything everywhere. I may have to get a mod that makes resources actually rare as I think that would improve the game.

For me, the perfect balance would be enemies with sensible HP so they die realistically but remove most of the resources so I really have to work to find and conserve them.

Had my third crash today.
It was just after speaking to an NPC. I returned his rifle that he had dropped in a radioactive area, but upon handing it back to him, the screen locked up.
At one point, I thought it might just be a really long frame stutter/hitch like what happened the other day, but this time it didn't resolve itself.
Even using task manager didn't fully sort out the problem. So, I had to do a restart of the machine.

What body armor and weapons do you have? On highest difficulty, a bloodsucker will kill you in 2, maximum 3 hits. Considering that it moves very fast, chaotic, even slows down time to catch you from the back and knocks you off ... while you need to mag dump 3-4 into just one while pumping medkits... it's not easy. Is frustrating and your run through your ammo very fast - and then you need cash to fix your items.

Other than that, like any open world game, it gets easy if you explore since the gameplay is rather MMO style.

Then don't collect them. Logically, each person in the zone should have enough resources to last there for a while, so of course you should find a lot more stuff on them than you find on easy mode. That shouldn't be the thing that makes the game difficult...

I could not collect them. But the whole premise is supposed to be about survival so it would be immersion breaking deliberately not picking up ammo and health kits.

In my example, I died a few times, sure...but it was ultimately pretty easy to kill them off and proceed. I was honestly expecting to give up and go back down to Stalker difficulty but it really wasn't that hard.

The game felt REALLY hard at the start...but at this point I'm starting to feel like Rambo which is surprising.

I think the rare resources should be limited to medkits and food but ammo seems about right IMHO. Every enemy carries a weapon and I like the fact you can retrieve ammo from them. It does seem odd they can shoot forever but you search them and find 7 rounds, but that’s a gameplay concession.

I tried using a modded G37 with great armour penetration as my main weapon but found it difficult to keep it stocked with ammo. But sticking with the soviet era AK and shotgun weapons left me no such issues because every enemy seems to be carrying an AK of some type.

Bit of a long one, but its an interesting video detailing the LONG and troubled path of Stalker SoC and an insight into the ambition, design choices and decision processes of the developers.

Gives a great insight into the Devs and makes a lot of sense out of what we have (and I suppose what we dont have) today.

Is anyone here struggling with how dark the game is? Is it a design thing? Sure, I can raise the brightness, but then it's just grey. I am using an OLED aw3423dwf with HDR enabled.

What setting are you using, bonus if you using the same display?

I can't say the darkness bothers me too much, though I do agree that it is a dark game.

I'm just using the default brightness/contrast/gamma/image encoding settings. Turning the latter to Rec 709 makes it even darker, IIRC.
My monitor doesn't have true, proper HDR, so I never use it.
