Staples's 'Kashmir' Managers Chair

I looked at getting the Kashmir chair, but decided against it when it sold out over Christmas. I wasn't impressed by the 5-8 hour use either. I ended up with: http://www.scribesdirect.com/OFFICE/goliath-24hr-leather-heavy-duty-operator-chair-rated-to-27-stone-170-kg.html

I know nothing about chairs, but I do know it's twice as heavy to lift as my last one. It's meant for the larger type person and I'm only 12 st. Also the padding looks great in the pictures, but feels quite hard. I'm hoping that it'll wear in over time.

Think I'll get one of these bad lads after payday. I've had my one a good few years now. It's done my proud, but the padding is going and it gives me a bit of a sore ass. Hope they're as comfy as folk make out!

look for a 24 hour rated chair if you want real comfort.

"The usage is for the life of the chair, not for the uses intimidate comfort"

Desperately trying not to come across as a fan boy, but I genuinely don't think it's easy to get subsidence-free padding for 120 quid.

This chair is reasonable value for money (at the lower price bracket) and extremely comfortable. Things people have mentioned about loosening bolts and flaking paint, I still haven't experienced and anyway, if this chair lasts me 5 years in whatever form, I'll be very happy.

The sitty back thing I sort of agree with, thought that's my natural posture anyway as I don't like to sit too close to a screen, so it doesn't bother me.

The gas strut hasn't affected me as I have it at the lowest setting all the time.

I'm still in the situation that the only negative I can think of considering the price, is that the arm rests are too high to fit under most desks.

Sure go and buy a second hand Herman Miller or whatever, but this is plush. And don't forget you can always get the seat base reupholstered with new foam and still save money.

So I went in yesterday as I wanted to treat myself. Sat in a load, some nice ones for £180 but didn't fancy spending that much. Had a look at the kashmir and wasn't impressed as I really wanted leather. So I went and got the Darcy one which is basically a leather version of the Kashmir. One thing I'm not sure on is this knee tilt control thing. I got back home and put it together only to realize it doesn't go back which I think I'm ok with tbh. Should make me sit up straight. But this knee tilt thing makes no sense to me. With it tight nothing happens, with it loose the chair probably tilts a tiny tiny bit and makes a noise. Kinda trying to see the point in it but can't.

I bought one just after xmas, It's a decent chair but nowhere near as good as all the reviews here make out, It is comfy when lounging around in it, When I tilt it back and put my feet up it feels great but it isn't the best chair for upright typing, It causes my lower back to hurt if I do it for too long.

I don't know why I expected anything better for £120 but with all the reviews here I really thought it would be something special

I agree for lying back and having a quick nap....its great.....and as u say upright its all wrong....lol

Them spacers on mine are at the front.......what are the spacers for anyway ?????????????????

Ignore this, I finally figured out how to use a chair...

Well, after my Staples Tiago chair gave up the ghost in a big way (the arms snapped both sides at the rear bolt hole to the base), I decided to go for a Kashmir. Really nice to sit in, and although the arms have the same 'hold the back to the base' design and plasticy material as the Tiago, it does seem a lot more robust. The paint likes to rub off though.

Still, bloomin' comfortable, and at the end of the day, if it lasts me a good couple of years, I'll be happy.

Does anyone know where I can get a technical sheet on the castors for this chair? I want to replace the castors for some rubber mounts but because they are not threaded I need to know the dimensions and type of attachment it uses.

I tried ringing Staples and they didn't have a clue

I forgot about this, as I managed to find some stems, but these arrived from the states today. They look much nicer.

I have the leather version of that chair, it is amazing but really has started to show wear and tear (after 5 years) - not too bad I guess.
