Staples's 'Kashmir' Managers Chair

ounSC.jpg

My arms on the Mayfair (the brown leather one I've posted) went exactly like that but I re-leathered them earlier this year.
I've still bought another one for Christmas though because it's the comfiest thing I've ever sat in and at home I live in it.
There was a dearer one in Staples for £210 and that was really comfortable.

How olds your Mark? I've never seen a chair last 2 years :D

The brown one above will be 3 years old this Christmas and is still very comfy.
It is the Staples Mayfair but has needed a lot of maintenance.

looking at some of these pictures i sure hope the staples kashmere microfibre super duper comfy thing that has been bought for me as a christmas present doesnt look like that in a couple of years

I'd imagine that the fabric will fare better over time than the leather. The main problem is they have used fake leather for the sides of the arm cushion, which it isn't designed for. So it cracks over time and falls apart. The leather also has some sort of coating over the top thats has worn away on the arm. I'm not even heavy at 12.5 stone, so its not that i'm too heavy for it lol. Its just cheaply made in places.

If the kashmir version has painted plastic arms then the paint will crack over time. If you dont put any weight on the arms then it might not. But mine lasted about a year or so before any wear was visible. This is the result of 3-4 years of heavy use, so they're not too bad at all and as I said, it's still mega comfy, which is the most important thing :D.

well, i'm a stick insect at a touch over 8 stone, so it should last me quite a while :)

whatever happens to it, it will be comfier than my current uni chair. imagine two small slabs of wood stuck together at a 50 degree angle with 0.000001mm of foam. thats my current uni chair :(

i'm 99% sure my one is the one with the fabric arms, so i wont have to worry about the leather ripping. i just hope the fabric doesnt rip as someone said it had for them, and the foam doesnt flatten over time

just so you know guys, its £99+VAT in store as well as online (well, it was at the staples in slough)

I am thinking I will go to Staples in the morning! Just got my student NUS sticker on my research ID card too :).

Random question: I sweat like a **** on my current leather chair, to which my parents got off Donnington market a long time ago. The same happens on my super-epicly-crap sofa that the University halls have purchased for my Warden flat. Is 'pleather' (cheap crappy plastic leather) likely to be the cause? I literally get wet through when I sit on my desk chair or this very cheap new sofa. My skin cannot breathe at all and I HATE sitting on the both of them. Makes my skin itchy and dry.

Also, does anyone know if this price is in-store?

I went to Staples this morning to pick one up - £108 after 10% student discount.
I was in staples 1-2 months ago and almost bought the chair when it was £200 (£180 after discount). SO SO glad I didn't now!

I see what people mean by saying it is a sit 'sitty backy' but it sure is comfortable. I really used to sweat badly on my old plastic leather chair.

I just had to tighten the screws on the chair as the back had come loose.
Anyone else had this issue?
mine are a little loose already. also, the foam on the bottom bit has been squished an alarming amount already. yes ive been sitting on it for quite a lot of the week, but if it gets much worse its being sent back

*edit*
if anyone has any ideas to help unflatten the foam on my seat i'm all ears

Got one for Christmas. I checked how tight they were yesterday and tightened a few of the screws up slightly. There's one thread and bolt which doesn't seem to be getting and tighter. The thread isn't loose, but its just not tight either. Anyone else with this?

Possibly didn't tighten them strong enough in the first place?

Mine seems okay after around 4 months - not had to touch it. Though it does say to regularly check them and re-tighten them when neccessary in the instructions.

I tightened the bolts up a lot. A few days on and the bolts are coming loose again.
Should I tighten them very tight or not as tight this time?
Should I take the chair back and say WTF?
Should I use locktight to keep the screws in place?
