I would be up for joining a OCUK fleet. As long as it is casual and friendly :). Getting sick and tired of guilds and all of the drama that usually comes with it. I think my options are either joining a OCUK or being a lone wolf :)

PvP instances from what I understand. I think the devs ruled out open PvP zones, although I feel there should be the option to have them in the neutral zone. Haven't really tried PvP yet. From what I have heard it is supposed to be good, but players want more of a story/reason to be PvPing. I have no doubt Cryptic will get this right very soon.

Just checked my mail and mine is there from amazon too :)

I could never get myself into Eve, probably because the people i know that play it have been playing for such a long time so it was a bit daunting being the little fish. Not something i'm used to as i normally start games when they first release.

I'm wary of Cryptic due to them disappointing me with Champions Online but find myself getting a little excited about STO now that the code is here.

Not sure if we will make an OcUK named one. But our Fleet will be a mature and casual playing style. I dont think STO is as hardcore as EVE is.
 
The shipname contest winners have been announced. Those are some very cool ships. Cryptic have done a great job designing the ships imo.

Not too fond of the third ship. But then not to bothered since I think it is a science vessel and the ships can be modified anyway :)

Meh, Rainforest site says you had to pre-order before Thursday to get codes, so that's out the window now, £10 cheaper too.. doh.

Other place is 34.99 for the same thing as far as I can tell..

Anywhere else doing the beta access codes?
 
I might buy it when the Beta is over and more info is released :) would be nice to be in an OcUK fleet, but atm too much money based on too little info :)

One thing I'm not liking off the bat from watching vids is the Borg, they shouldn't have been included in the lower levels as missions etc. they should have been limited to say higher leveles near the upper limit, a drone should be able to pretty much take apart a horde of new players, as should the ships :)

From what i remember the Borg were introduced early in the timeline, Next generation i think, then there is the Dominion, which was Deep space 9 ( harder, entered a system with them and was anhilated within a couple of seconds) and then there is the creatures from fuildic space which was Voyager, so in theory i think having the borg in early missons work into that timeline nicely?

Is there a level cap in this game? If so what is the max level?
Is it done like eve/df/uo and its skill points?
If you die in a ship what actually happens is it like eve and you could loose millions?
The pvp is there any reason or point to pvp?
Can you pvp anywhere?
Can you pvp your own race and by pvp I don't mean duel I mean flat out gank.

* Captain
* Admiral

From what i saw of the videos on the STO forum you simply respawn when you die, if there's any kind of death penalty i haven't noticed it written there.

As for the rest i've no clue, i try not to read up on MMO's too much before they come out now as it usually sets me up for disappointment when they actually release.
 
I got my code from the Rainforest and registered it on the STO website but I'm not getting instructions to download the client? I figured they might allow you to predownload it before the beta starts. I could be wrong though.

I've just downloaded the closed beta client, I'd imagine they'll be using the same client and *maybe* just releasing a more patched version for open beta which can most likely just patch from the CB client.

Is there a level cap in this game? If so what is the max level? Yes and no. There is the list Pyroblaze showed. You also earn points that you MUST spend to level up. Even after reaching maximum level you can keep earning these until all your skills are full - although they say that could take 300 hours +

If you die in a ship what actually happens is it like eve and you could loose millions? You lose crew that you need to replace at spacedock. This system isn't in place yet though.

The pvp is there any reason or point to pvp? Can you pvp anywhere? Can you pvp your own race and by pvp I don't mean duel I mean flat out gank. There are PvP instances and at the moment they say there is no plan for open PvP (although I would like the option)! As the klingons you can PvP the federation and other klingon houses. Not sure if the federation can PvP each other, but if not I suspect it will be added soon.

Anyway - heads up for anyone testing tonight. There is a big patch with some pretty huge additions - bridges and genesis to name a few ;) :)
