Star Trek Online

As the klingons you can PvP the federation and other klingon houses. Not sure if the federation can PvP each other, but if not I suspect it will be added soon.

Can you PvP them whenever you meet them as you travel, or do they have to be "flagged" for PvP?

- bridges and genesis to name a few ;) :)

Are there plans to have other internal areas of the ships? Would be great to be able to walk around your ship, would be even better if other players could beam over and walk around your ship and vice versa !

Haven't done any PvP, so only know what I have read on the beta forums sorry. Will post if I find out any more info.

Post launch there are plans to extend ship interiors. Tbh it was only a few months ago we found out bridges had been added last minute as a sort of "social hub".

Edit: Small update - Apparently there is a lot of debate at Cryptic at the moment whether or not to add open PvP. They say more info will follow.

They should definitely allow open PvP imo, open PvP is pretty much a key feature of the Star Trek universe I would say. Would be excellent being a marauder and monitoring comm channels to find ships then warping in, cloaking and attack them and then strip their ship of anything of use/trade value. :)

I think they will. It is a feature that would please most people. People who want it can go into those zones, people who don't can stay clear. I really think they will add it in parts of the neutral zone.

Would make sense, though it would make much more sense if it wasnt restricted to certain zones. I mean ships in Star Trek attack anywhere and everywhere, wouldnt have made much sense if upon arriving at Ocheron V and encountering a Klingon Warbird, Capt Picard just shrugged at Ryker and said, its ok number one, they arent able to attack us :)

(even more so if you then consider the attitudes of other races who aggressively attack, like Cardassians, Ferengi or Breen)

Maybe they might launch with a full PvP server?

Id personally like if there was no open pvp or if they do allow pvp anywhere then it has to be from challenges, nothing worse than going about doing missons only for some **** 5 lvls higher to kill you.

There is only one server for the entire world so another server with different PvP rulesets is unlikely.

I have my fingers crossed that they do decide to open up PvP a bit more as it's one aspect that's been lacking from Cryptic's games.

I'm not really a PvP nut myself, I like times when I can just chill and explore without worrying about some asshat sneaking up on me to throttle me whilst I'm reading quest text... but for Star Trek, open PvP is pretty much a no brainer in my opinion.

But its getting out of situations like that which made Kirk and Picard the characters they were ! Its integral to what makes Star Trek, Star Trek :D

But as I say, thats maybe why its a good idea to have open PvP as a seperate server ruleset, that way those people who want the rough and tumble universe of Star Trek can play there, and those people who want to avoid starships attacking them when they dont want them to can play on the normal servers. To use an episode title from Star Trek... Best of Both Worlds :)

Actually it is quite likely. One server, many instances. They could just have different rulesets on different instances. This is one of the many options being discussed on the beta forums.

Cryptic would never have this in one of their games. There will be either open PvP zones or a few open PvP instances. Either way, I am interested to see how this will turn out.

Really shouldnt be hard to do. Anyone who has ever watched any single series of Star Trek should be able to see very clearly how the game can be done.

Its really exceptionally simple.

We know that each race has its "own" space, we know that there is Federation Space, Klingon Space, Cardassian Space etc. We know from every series of Star Trek ever, that very very rarely do they cross into each others borders uninvited. The vast majority of Star Trek is set outside of territorial borders in unclaimed Space.

So all they need to do is make it so that if you are in your own Space you arent PvPable, but everywhere else in the game you are PvPable. That would be the closest to the Star Trek setting.

Although having said that, even then there are times where they get attacked within their own space. Case in example being that episode where the Tactical guy from Starfleet comes to do a training exercise and Ryker is given command of that knackered old ship..USS Hathaway if I recall correctly, in that episode its within Federation Space, but the Ferengi turn up and immediately attack and cripple the Enterprise without asking first if they are allowed to. But generally speaking they dont aggressively attack in other races Space. Everywhere else though its anyone is fair game pretty much.

never did much reading but assumed areas of no race claim, basically open space, was pvp/lowsec/whatever you want to call it

its a shame they didnt expand the races better as thatd have made full RvR more viable as it stands best you could hope for is RvM zones

I'm guessing they will add in the ability to play other civilizations, perhaps as an expansion pack. Cardassians and Romulans would be obvious choices for an expansion pack.

I wouldn't be suprised if we got Borg as a playable race at some point from an expansion, although probably only as a PvP race like the Klingon's are now.

All of which has been discussed by the devs as a possibility post launch :). The races are there, so i don't see it being that difficult to develop.

Aye, although I really really really hope they don't make the same mistake that everyone else tends to do and just releases new content without fixing the older stuff. For instance I'm hoping that they add way more PvE content for Klingons.

Its possible I suppose, though the Borg in the timeframe that the game is set are very weak and virtually extinct after their defeat in 2381

From Voyager? I thought they just basically hijacked some kinda Borg transport system to get home and fired a few missles here and there.
