Star Trek Online

A quick Google says it's a bonus from the original series season 3 Blu-ray set.

Weird, they must have known that the code would just go onto the internet and everyone would have it. Not much of a bonus for buying the season 3 blu-ray set if people who didnt can have it too :D

Still, handy for those of us who didnt :D

When I see a ship anywhere in game with the NX prefix I won't think "Ah, cool they is NX" it'll be more like "Hmmm a fool and their money" etc. :p

the way most mmos have been in the last few years collectors editions are just a rip off.

i wont even pre order an mmo i havent already played anymore

To be honest I always get collectors editions. Although normally I end up buying two, one for my self and selling one on (sold WAR:CE for £180 and the WOW add ons for £100 + each)

Actually I'm a big sucker for collectors editions, got the MW night vision goggles on my desk, HALO 3 helm on another desk, GTA safe under my bed and other stuff dotted over the place :)

This one though I got the digital version so no psychical stuff to display :(

well assuming the dating on the packages is right the OB client download was packaged as of yesterday so i can presume that the only things to download will be whatever they change between yesterday and the 12th, the CB client people are sourcing was packaged on the 28/12, they will have a lot more to patch but well, getting the core files out of the way makes the job easier

They had a 2GB patch today so we'll have at least that to do come Tuesday :p

Hopefully, i kept expecting people to start chaining themselves to the banner over it.

They used to take the Champions Online site and forum down for maintenace all the time too, bit of a pain in the ass.

Where exactly do I input that code ? :P

[Edit]: nm! found, was at startrekonline.com/enter_key

Im starting to feel a little overwhelmed by the amount of Trekkies who know every little thing about the whole Star Trek Universe after spending a good while reading the forums tonight. I'm a Scifi fan and enjoyed the original Star Trek reruns as a kid, a little bit of Enterprise but got bored, loved DS9 and yet i remember none of the '******' specific stuff they're talking about non stop in every thread there. Plots yeah, but ship names, scripts other than the oft repeated famous lines, tech specs, layouts, engine parts, history of every living microbe? No.

I hope the game has plenty of people looking for fun rather than being overrun by exacting perfectionists :/

Well i suppose thats to be expected when the gameworld is based on an ip which has been going for 40-odd years. Means there is a lot of material out there, with some people having been following it for decades. Its the price you pay for choosing such a well established ip. Hell i still get odd comments in mmos for roleplaying ingame, roleplaying in an rpg, who would have thought ! :D

I wouldnt worry though i am sure there will be plenty of normal players who dont know which is port and which is starboard, and think that a nacelle is a type of french cheese ;)

Hmm i like star trek i like MMOS but this is looking like a sausagefest and my tricorder says the gayus levels are off the scale

Hehe. I wonder what scale gayus levels would be measured in...

Maybe in Nortons, with 100 Nortons equalling a Winton , and 100 Wintons equalling a Clary :D

I'm not that ignorant :p

The more i learn about the game or the more i see the more i'm looking forward to Tuesday. I guess i expected it to have lots of trekkie fans, but underestimated how many.

We'll see, i'll play it and i'll either like it or not, hopefully the former. I can se me going Klingon now though regardless of their disadvantages, simply as i'll need to enter less conversations about ST lore and instead answer with violence ;)

people have complained about the games use of left right as opposed to port starboard for shield damage referencing hehe

Mind you going Klingon might be even worse! Klingon Star Trek fans are amongst the most passionate of all fans. You might find yourself being berated in chat for not speaking Klingon or spelling the words wrongly :)
