You need to allocate them all before it'll let you apply them.
You need to reach the number on the tabs before it unlocks the next tier. Max of 300,000 for Space and 100,000 for Ground.

I'm quite overwhelmed by the game to be honest. I don't think I ever did have a handle on it all. Oh well, it didn't stop me participating in a fleet action last night which we actually won. I really like those encounters.

It's a shame about the ground-based stuff, although apparently it's all been revamped so I guess I'll see.

Might have been me I dunno as cant remember the name. Someone said hello and i said lo back but that was it they never said anything else after that.

Btw about ground combat, press B to switch to shooter mode (fps mode) otherwise it might seem nothings changed as rpg mode (old way) is on by default.

The OCUK channel still works it seems as previous talked about someone on it said hello so if anyone used it in the past it still works.

Skill tree. Yep as said before, you need to allocate so many points in the first column of things before the next one allows you to spend points in it.

Cool, playing the ground-based stuff like a shooter sounds a lot more manageable. I don't know what it was about those parts that I disliked so much before...must be the engine. It just seemed kind of clunky and nothing had any weight.

Just did a Borg encounter! That was excellent; really atmospheric with those huge cubes and the occasional taunting from the Borg. We were doing well but then I tried to take on a cube by myself and very quickly got shot to pieces.

I'm level 8 at the moment; when do I get a new ship? Do you have to pay for them now?

New ship every 10 levels so lt to lt commander u get one when u start being lt commander. Ships cost dilithium i think now but i think u get tokens for ships like before at key ranks im not sure which rank but i think u get a free ship at captain level and 2-3 other levels.

Well I dinged at 20, Commander and never received a free ship. How do you get one?

Previously before FTP I was at 18 before all this dilithium with 500,000 energy credits. So now I'm at 20 with about 500 dilithium. Seems like I have to grind or buy CP to get a new ship?

There's a place in Earth Space Dock and DS9, probably some other places where you can buy new ships. When you level up you should get a free ship token to spend and you go there to buy one.

Always paid for them in the past with Energy Credits from ship requisitions In the space dock. Is the place you get the free ship where you can customise your ship?

Yeah that's the place.

It's then some woman to the far right corner.

Any free ship tokens you have should show up in the bottom right corner where it states how much dilithium/energy credits you have.

Yep if u go to ESD and go to where u can visually see the galaxy class in dock its one of the people down the stairs on the sides u talk to to pick new ships/shuttles up etc.

Not all level up ranks let u have a free ship mind you. Just certain key ranks which i think is captain and some others not quite sure which but thats what i heard awhile ago.

Gold members get free ships upto Rear Admiral.
Silver members get free ships to Commander, afterwards they get a token which reduces the refined Dilithium cost of a ship.

You can't buy ships with EC anymore, it's either token, refined Dilithium or C-Store purchases now.

Most daily missions (Defra dailies, SFA Lore Daily, Foundry Daily, Traelaus), STF's and Fleet Actions award Dilithium Ore for completion. This replaces the old Marks /Badges /Emblems that they used to award.

You can refine 8,000 ore per day (Midnight GMT > Midnight GMT).

If you have multiple toons, do the quick dailies, and there is a way of transfering Dilithium from one toon to another, which I won't post on an open forum (it's not an exploit, I just don't want the devs to nerf it, although I can't see how they could)

If you can keep your eye on the Events. There's a new one every hour, Mirror events and Tour Of the Universe are not bad.

Most of the recent updates are documented on http://www.stowiki.org, or you can ask in the Fleet channel, and I will do my best to answer any questions.

So how much is a captain ship then, just out of interest? Did a borg fleet action today and the academy exam and ended up with about 2k dilithium.

Well I think commander was 60K for a ship. So captain might be a fair wad
