Star Trek Online

Got an email last night about the launch of the new episode. Any good?

Yeah the production quality is what the whole game needs.

new backdrops, interesting story mixed with combat.

Too bad cryptic are suckling on PWE's nipple.

:D

I can imagine they begged D.Sthal to return, he is one of the only people who can keep the game under control, along with actually interacting with the player base (customers) good on him.

I think they only got dan back because everyone liked him and they needed some positive publicity as there was too much negativity on their forums. Basically the games development has trickled down so much that they needed dan to come back and they need him to get everyone to be smiling again even tho there is probably not a lot he can do since f2p and PWE acquisition.

If im wrong and he can pull a diamond out of crap with sto then i will be happy as would i think most of the players. Still doubt it tho.

I've got a purple Saurian Boff candidate with the 'Efficient' space ability trait thing. How much does it increase the warp core efficiency, and is it worth it? I'm asking since the actual abilities are fairly useless at the moment, then again I can put them in my second tactical slot (Not primary since I've spent a ton of points on his skills already) and then buy/train better skills for them?

By the time you reach level 50, you'll start finding that you have more bridge officer points than you can shake a stick at, as all the xp you gain, is given to your boffs, at the last count, I think I had about half a million points for my boffs, which gives me a lot of resetting their skills if I decide that I need to.

Im debating giving this a go now its f2p.Is it worth me starting now or will i just get roflstomped by everyone.
Can this be picked up for a casual gamer for say half an hour or so or are the missions longer than this?

Cheers

Some of the missions can be done in a short amount of time, I might be wrong, but I think you can exit out the game & pick you missions up where you leave them.

I started playing a few weeks back, enjoying it. Steam says I've played for 151 hours so far, so I guess its alright!

STO is basically based about the casual player... The average mission is about 30-60 minutes long, and there are several waypoints in the mission, so you can leave and come back to the mission at another time.

If you go into PvP, you will be boosted to VA, however because you haven't unlocked all your skills yet, you will be at a disadvantage.

If you team up with another player for PvE, then you get boosted to their level.

I felt that last series was abit "meh". This is a problem with STO, influx of new players but only new episode series about twice a year. a resolution needs to be found.

That new ship artist is a bit full of himself isn't he...bloody hell.

Must be moderator Q's "special friend"...they both up there own asses :p

A few of the devs pretend there into trek but they really aren't judging by their responses.

Dont really like tumerboy or jamjamz atm i mean they post a lot on the forum but they dont have pretend to like trek when i dont think they do.

Logan was canny.

Dan seems ok but can stretch the truth a lot to gain hype but generally seems canny as well.

Dont like geko at all.

Jeremy from stoked used to be ok i think but seems to kiss ass too much now he is with em on the sto team. Also if they can and do hire ppl with no gaming development exp like jeremy then i can see why the game is pretty poor lol. Duno how many are like jeremy in sto team but i think there getting more and more ppl from the community instead of professionals.

agreed, the worst two are "Q" and "jamjamz" both are complete ****'* and don't follow to the rules that we as customers/players do, if we said half of what they do it would be locked down and 10,20,30 infraction points easily. just stupid.

Dan is pretty decent guy from what i can tell, but yeah he HAS to stretch the truth to save face even when it's not what he wants to do you can tell he actually cares about the game and it's players equally.

Jeremy is ok, but as you said is a big kiss ass. i think that comes from being the "new guy" at least he isnt rude or a complete knob.
