Star Trek Online

The constant loading screens are such a bore.

I am back playing LOTRO and having great fun with it. I really want this to be good but I think I will avoid pre ordering and give it a month or two to settle down before making a decision. SWTOR is the game I am really pinning my hope on but as that is at least 12 months away I might give this a go. I have never lasted that long with a single MMO.

Starbase 24 gives out the best loot to the top 6 players. I got some real nice blue loot by being in the top 6. As soon as the event ends the top 6 players find blue loot in there cargohold.

so how is this, i cant be bothered to get the beta play it then have to start again, if its cheap to preorder i will get it.

whats the cheapest people have found it for pre ordering?

ive found gold edition for £25 delivered

also can u get intrepid class ships?

I'll try the SB 24 thing later... can I ask also is there a Storage NPC at Earth? theres stuff in my Inventory I wanna keep?

Yeah there's bank at the Spacedock, it's around the ring somewhere. Just look for the area with loads of computer consoles - the auction house and bank are part of that.

No. There's another station. Like he said, double click it in the system list to go there.

It's basically under attack by Klingons, and there's a battle that happens every 30 mins. It's pretty cool.

This map was posted by someone on the main forum a few days ago, i found it dead handy at the start when trying to get used to things.

You mean the main space station orbiting earth?
If so is that what you guys are refering to with regards to missions?

The spacedock isn't Starbase 24 no. The Earth spacedock is in the Sol System. When you leave the Sol system you enter Sector Space, which you can use to travel to other sectors or/and systems (Starbase 24 is one of those). Also yeah if we're talking about sector space in regards to missions we mean the area outside of Sol, but the area you get your missions from is the spacedock inside the Sol system :)

You get one ship for free when you reach 11, you get given a Starship token to buy whichever you want. If you want one or both of the other ship types I think they cost the other currency unit, Starfleet merits (I think that's the name for them anyway not the energy units, can't login at the moment to check).

The bind on equip just means you can't trade the item on the exchange once you equip it, you can take them off your ship and then sell them via your replicator for energy units still and put some other shield type in if you like. They are not in addition to your current shields, if you press 'U' and then click on your ship name you can see it's inventory and what goes where.

Aye, although just to correct since you couldn't log in, it's the general credits that you spend on the extra ships. If you picked the Escort for example, the Science and Cruiser vessels would cost 20,500 credits each.

Only use so far I've found for Merits is for candidates and officers for your ship.

Thanks for the info guys! Much Appreciated!

Yes, this was a recent change at the end of CB. The ships used to cost Starfleet merits, but now cost credits.

Seems Cryptic's server reached maximum capacity while I was away. Hope it is big enough for release! Must be quite a popular open beta!

Aye, although think it's just case of they released tens of thousands of keys in a short space of time. I'm expecting the retail to be rocky, but getting smoother due to a sub-average retention rate. Still expecting it to hold 150k+ though.

I now have a science vessel, I though it would lead to a more "star trek" like game, with the ability to attack individual systems and the like.

I dont think If I've got to drag through all that again I can be bothered to play the game when its released, Its a hell of a drag getting promoted all that way.
