Star Trek Online

I found getting to rank 11 quite fast, I did the defend the sector quest multiple times, changing instance after each reset to avoid the 5min wait.

Yes I did that as well, its still taken a good few days of almost solid play.

I'm back at work next week, I'll only have an hour or so a day to play, I wount play it every day, could be looking at weeks to get back up here.

TBH it s a good entertaining game , yes there are problems but with it being a MMO it will be patched and updated , the devs wanted all the feedback they can get and they have had it good and bad! the biggest problem is lack of movment in space , ie you cant go up or down more than 45 deg`s at a time , which means if there is an enemy directly below you , you can just push the down key and go direct to him .....

Ignore Ensign ranks.

Lt grade 1-10 = Level 1-10
Lt Cmdr grade 1-10 = Level 11-20
Cmdr grade 1-10 = Level 21-30
Capt grade 1-10 = Level 31-40
Adm grade 1-10 = Level 41-50

So Lt grade 6 is level 6, Captain grade 2 is Level 32 etc

Where does it make reference to all these levels in the game?

Or is this just an unofficial acceptance of this kind of level system?

Ok, but doesn't it make more sense to refer to the ranks as they are names, ie. Ensign 1, 2, Lieutenant 3, 4, etc?

I'm not ignoring the Ensign ranks in this case because they are actually part of the numbering system. If they aren't meant to be counted why are they part of the number sequence?

They aren't. Assuming you could actually get out of the tutorial with no skillpoints you'd be Lieutenant 1.

People are calling them levels because typing level 16 is a hell of a lot easier than Lieutenant Commander Grade 6.

I wish there were more areas of the ship to upgrade. I also feel like the consoles shouldn't affect ships functions but should be there to facilitate the bridge officers abilities.

So things like Warp Core, Fusion Generators, EPS Network, Computer Core, Sensor Array, Inertial Dampeners, Thrusters etc.
Along with the ones we have now, Impulse Engine, Deflectors, Shields etc.

And to stop you from just slapping all the best items on have certain types/sizes/marques limited to certain class ships or special commondations etc. Limits by credits in game, prestige, size and compatibility. So you couldn't slap a Mk X galaxy class warp core into a Nova class ship. They could have done so much more with the ships, seeing as they are 80% of the game.

Consoles should not affect ship systems as they do now, for instance having an engineering console increase a cruisers rate of turn. To increase rate of turn you should upgrade the inertial dampener system along with say your thrusters/engines. Also consoles need further expanding, giving non specific consoles maybe 1 or 2 slots that are multi purpose but with reduced bonuses that way you can reconfigure to suit the missions.

Granted they probably don't want to make it too geeky for non Star Trek fans, but come on :p the vast majority are going to be the fans of the show.

Sure but where does it say that Lieutentat 4 = Level 4 or whatever?

Each level is out of what? 50?

So When you are Lt. 1 you have advanced 4 levels. WHen you are admiral 5 you have advanced 45 levels.

So when you start you are ensign 1 then 2 then 3 then Lt 1 but you've still progressed 4 levels.
