Star Trek Online

Really do want to give this a try, and see if it's worth it - as I'm a bit of a Star Trek nerd, and it looks like it's set in the TNG era, so always a good sign <3

But yeah, I think I'll give it a shot, but being sub'd to WoW, I fear my life will well and truly go down the pan once I subscribe to two MMORPG's, lol.

Thanks for that, quite a lot of the previewers seem a tad confused over what they are previewing! Seems a great place to set the game as it covers all the bases, Romulus has gone, Spock has left the prime timeline and as players we are dealing with the fallout of events in the prime timeline.

Yes, I feel your frustration. I didn't get in until end of December (and then went on holiday, so missed some testing). Don't let it put you off preordering! It is shaping up well :)

That timeline clears a couple of things up for me, cheers :)

Still slightly confused that Federation aren't using cloaking tech in this game, I always thought that the cloaking tech was not to be used due to some treaty either with the Klingons or/and Romulans, and since one of them is at war with the Federation and one of them now has about 100,000 bits of rock to call home I can't see why they aren't using cloaks.

Also, I wonder how many science vessels we'll see... I'd imagine everyone is going to want an Enterprise style ship or a Defiant style ship.

You would think that, but so far I have seen an equal distribution of most ships. Have to admit, I was expecting the same thing! I think the reason is that abilities depend on your bridge officers and that there are much cooler ships on offer :)

It all depends whether or not you want the bonuses on offer. Many of the item bonuses will be worthless within a few levels. However, there are some cool bonuses like having the NX prefix and the joined trill bonus. I bought mine from D2D. I know quite a few people getting multiple copies (multiple keys stack on one account), but I am not that crazy :)

Still waiting to see if they offer lifetime subs!
 
Im not sure if its worth a monthly sub, partying seems random and the 'loot drops' are just plain weird while partying, like someone can do absoultely no dmg to a ship and yet they get the 'loot' also some of the items need better clarification of what exactly they do.
 
They stated cloaking will be available for federation vessels for missions only, i think klingons get it as ship equipment... But then there is no PVE content for klingons...
