Star Trek: Picard

It's better than Picard.
Honestly anyone that says Picard was good.... What kind of garbage have you watched before or is this your first time owning a TV?

Seems like everything that was ever on TV is garbage according to this thread. It's just light entertainment done on a varying budget. Even B movies have their charm. It's not that the old stuff wasn't without its flaws either. It's that you've turned into Victor Meldrew.

To me relative to TNG, DS9 and Voyager, both Discovery and Picard are poor. Does not mean the latter were perfect, far from it.

It is still Star Trek and I will watch it at least once, but I can’t see myself ever watching Discovery again and likely the same will be the case for Picard unless it improves. TNG we watch over and over every 3-5 years, never get bored of it.

Exactly startrek and starwars, both have lots to live upto. So did Stargate.

When stuff is produced that is just not upto par it's sad times.

If they were not set in a federation startrek universe then they would just be average sci-fi shows.

I mean Picard was a genuine carwreck because it was nonsense and the worst part really badly written nonsense that's tarnished the brand in my eyes.

Good writing should be the base of all sci-fi not just jokes, violence and explosions.

I hate to say it but look how well the Orville recreated the startrek vibe...... Yeah some of the humour is also terrible but overall it's on point :p

Victor meldrew maybe..... I just feel sad this is the best they could come up with. Sign of the times... Probably exactly.

I'm not a huge Star Trek fan, but I quite enjoyed this one. It wasn't brilliant, but it was decent enough most of the time and certainly felt much less cheesy than Discovery.

That said I did think that given the amount of fan service being dished out by bringing in various old characters, it might have worked better as a mini-series. It took a bit too long to get going.

Lol caaaaan Do!

But honestly who will rewatch Picard? For what reason....
I ahve not even rewatched Lost and breaking bad which are one of my favourite all time tv shows. WHats your point?

Here are shows i love of recent.

Ozark
Game of Thrones
Mr Robot
Handmaidens tale
X files
Californication
Westworld
Better call Saul
PIcard

None of them i would rewatch as i dont rewatch tv shows as in ever.

I was watching the Expanse and the Mandalorian when I watched Picard. I thought Picard was lightweight but enjoyed it anyway. As I said didn't really like how it finished in the last two episodes but didn't lose any sleep over it.

Discovery I have mixed feelings about. The whole Klingon treatment I don't like or the love interest. I'm sure theres some don't judge a book by its cover thing going on. But it's not very Star Trek. Most of it was ok ish.

Loved Picard and Discovery and will binge-watch them again once all the next seasons have aired and that's coming from a trek fan. Certainly had its major flaws but I think if you forget about cannon and past and ride with it in one big binge session you can see both shows were meant to be very different to usual trek.

I hope both shows thrive and get more seasons or perk up the interest to a new trek series set further say 25th or 26th century.
