I think as a few mentioned something about it felt weird, can’t quite put my finger on what it was.
Too many deliberate laugh points?

Very good point - it was less Star Wars, more Disney. Definitely. Over the top, magical dust, everything-by-pure-luck-plot, no-explanations-necessary-just-go-with-it Disney story.

That may well be it. The opening scene was trying so hard to be funny it took all element of threat out of what could/should have been powerful stuff.
I’ve no issue with a laugh if it comes naturally (which some did) but a lot felt forced and shoe horned in.
I was saying to s friend before hand I hope they don’t go funny but they did. Every film tries so hard to copy the Deadpool/guardians vibe these days. Most will look back and cringe at their attempts at a later date.
I think I need a second viewing to take it in.
I definitely liked it and I think it will go down as a good addition but They seemed so desperate to move on to break from the past that a lot was rushed.
Anyone think that Kylo Ren speech about letting go of the past, killing it was actually the director speaking to the fans?
Having had a few hours sleep and a bit of digest trying to remember parts of the film, it was pretty spectacular to watch the visuals and so on were very nice
There was also a lot to take it, so many sub stories i did wonder at one point how they were going to pull it together
I also found it a bit sad seeing Carrie Fisher in her scenes knowing shes gone, a good sign of for her
I also wonder why Finn and Rey never actually do anything / missions together.
Also who the hell are Reys Parents, why is she so strong with the force
and too much CGI.
Just sat down for my viewing, empty cinema and someone chooses to sit next to me, and he' a talker.....
That would infuriate me!
From mostly serious sci-fi, to utterly cheesy, completely ridiculous, generic superhero sort of film that would sit nicely alongside others like Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy.
I enjoyed it a bit for what it is, but it just didn't feel like Star Wars anymore.

Ha I had similar last night, bought a VIP seat, no-one around me eating or rustling packets, then the last guy to take a seat is the one next to me who brings in the biggest box of popcorn ever, and is such a noisy eater. Took him half the film to get through it, was making me twitch with rage
I totally understand that sentiment, I totally do, but... Do you not think had the originals come out today, they'd have done the exact same way with CGI, it's only because they couldn't back then. In fact, didn't George Lucas even say that he started with Episode IV because he didn't feel he'd have the technology or production to do justice to his vision for the prequels.
