State of Decay 2

I am also very concerned about this. The fact that also if the players get to far away from you they disconnect or something I think I heard. I think though the reason behind why you cant build bases in other peoples worlds and such was due to funding as the developers had actually been limited I think Microsoft is testing the water first and if state of decay 2 does well I think the third instalment will be the actual grand scale one.

I dont mind the tethering so much, as we would normally run around together when we coop anyway, but the not being able to help build and use resources etc, thats just very disappointing and makes it barely co-op at all. But we've finished with Dying Light so this will do for some team zombie killing for now.

Same here, but until they can be called to task we can't do anything about it. I'm hoping that the way you have to gamble for in-game content will force the authorities to come down on the publishers etc.

We can simply refuse to buy.
I don't buy much/if any DLC. I don't pre-order games.

Mass Effect 3 for example, massive story lore hidden behind day one DLC, it's an outrage.

That's what people should do, but don't. As a rule I don't but certain titles that don't take the mickey I do. Mass Effect Andromeda I got dirt cheap a month or two after release due to the mess it was on release, I did the same with Batman Arkham Knight. More than 90% of my purchases are discounted key codes after release. I bought SoD2 on pre-order because it isn't taking the mickey like other games have. I don't mind if they have an unrelated DLC behind a pay wall on release as long as it isn't a must have part of the main storyline.

To me the first State of Decay's DLC's are good examples of DLC's done properly. Both Breakdown & Lifeline are unrelated to the main game other than being set in the same apocalyptic universe.

I have to sadly agree. Now that you put those things into perspective it does seem like almost missing features. I bet they actually do a DLC for it now I would not be surprised maybe the second DLC is that one apparently it will add new "Siege mechanics"?. Maybe it will allow further co-op features?.

I had to cancel my pre order due to an issue with my bank card and now that I have tried to pre order it again with my new one the Microsoft store wont even take me to the pre order page just great this is so infuriating.

I know its ign but their review is up 7.5/10.

Fun in co-op but repetition and bugs bring it down. Not surprising, part of me wants to hold off until year one edition but im a bit light on games atm.

Edit:

Some other reviews trickling in, Detructoid 8/10 https://www.destructoid.com/review-state-of-decay-2-503097.phtml

Eurogamer have slapped it with an Avoid due to bugs, other reviews appear to be in the 7 to 8 range.

I think I will hold off until year one then!

I bought the first game when it was in early access on Steam and thoroughly enjoyed it. This has many improvements over the original, so it's well worth the modest asking price.

Whilst I love SoD1 for it's gameplay (still ranks as one of my fav zombie bashers), you can't deny it was one of the buggiest games ever. I've largely avoided getting hyped up for this and I had hoped things had changed. Imagine my surprise when upon looking at the various screenshots around that it seems to be the same damn game - well engine wise anyway. How can the same things bog down the same IP twice?!

Sod that. I'll wait a while before jumping in.

This 'review' seems to confirm that - https://metro.co.uk/2018/05/17/state-decay-2-review-bugs-vs-zombies-7553098

Different engine (UE4 compared to cryengine in SOD1) this time though looks like bugs still aplenty.

Cheers for that. I was wondering about the engine as CryEngine was an absolute mess in the first game. Not sure how they managed to carry on with maintaining the same level of bugs moving to a newer one. I do hope the game accepts mods though as there were some good ones for the first game.

For me it doesnt seem to much different from the first one so i know what im getting into and am ready to another game, given the cost of entry for me personally i will purchase and play.
