State of Decay 2

I just grabbed my SOTD 2 pre-order.

I would have preferred it on Steam but for once on the Windows store we get a new game release that's reasonably priced, The main game is £25 and the Ultimate edition which includes a Prepper's Pack dlc that's similar to the YOSE Prepper's Pack and a new game mode with a new map dlc all for £39.99. To me that looks like a bargain after all Ubisoft and EA titles that go from £50 ish for the base game up to £80 or more for the full package.

I cant wait for this game the hype is over 9000 already I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas to open my presents from mummy and daddy :P. I was kind of shocked the pre order bonuses stacked I thought that would never work but some people have already purchased all the pre order copies for all the unique pre order content. The issue is I believe that all the pre order bonus stuff will be put in the shop after a year or so. Anyhow I am just fine with my ultimate edition pre order. Did you guys catch the GI walkthrough's of the game yet ?.

How is day 1 DLC a bargin?

It' just 40 pound for the full game for 25 pound for a "lite" version

the add on packs aren't due out for a while, the prepper pack isn't necessary. The base game at £25 isn't a bad shout (subject to reviews).

From what I've read the £40 package also includes two upcoming DLC packs that are similar to the original ones where we get a new map with a new storyline & goals, So we're getting the main game & what is effectively it's season pass for £40, That's a good deal nowadays.
Add to that the fact that there's no micro-transactions in game and we're getting a bargain when compared to what other games often cost today.

Day 1 DLC should just be as part of the base game.
Buying a game, and then day 1 DLC is bending over on command.

How? For an example I'll compare it to AC Origins & Far Cry 5.

AC Origin's base game is £50 & another £35 for the season pass & then there's the in-game purchases. So the minimum all content price is £85.

FC 5's base game is £50, the season pass is £25 and there's also an additional deluxe pack that costs another £8.50 plus the in-game purchases, So the minimum all content price is £84.

State of Decay 2 costs £40 which includes the upcoming DLC packs. Plus there's no in game purchases.

I don't agree with any of those practices, they're all examples of bad habits that gamers allow.

How long are we likely to wait for a Steam release? I don't want to buy it via the Microsoft Store only for it to appear on Steam a day later!

Same here, but until they can be called to task we can't do anything about it. I'm hoping that the way you have to gamble for in-game content will force the authorities to come down on the publishers etc.

I'm extremely disappointed with how co-op is done in this (the players joining your game not being able to build the base or use your resources) but despite that, I'll most likely still get it for the occassional bit of zombie fun

I am also very concerned about this. The fact that also if the players get to far away from you they disconnect or something I think I heard. I think though the reason behind why you cant build bases in other peoples worlds and such was due to funding as the developers had actually been limited I think Microsoft is testing the water first and if state of decay 2 does well I think the third instalment will be the actual grand scale one.
