£30 Win 7 Pro Student jobby all installed and functioning fantastically here :)

I upgraded from Vista Ultimate and it seems great thus far; the real test will be when I'm running multiple-archi bits & pieces as well as undertaking other tasks.

Thumbs up so far :)

Is the Student Pro edition retail or something only? I have Vista Ultimate OEM disc if it asks for a previous Windows disc...

Gonna grab Pro Student edition for my netbook now as well I think :)

Iv been given the serial code, and iv not been charged, :S.

Yeah, it was indeed.

Whats the best method to burn the files/folders and make it bootable? It'd have made so much more sense had they made it an .iso file.

Does anyone know for certain that the license on the student upgrade versions can be transferred from one PC to another? I'm still not sure about this as I've received differing answers, tbh.

Just bought it people urgent help needed, its come up with a page asking me to download it like now given me the product key and everything, does this mean download it and get it now or will some disc be coming in the post for me, reply asap please

So it looks as though installing with no key and then upgrading the no key instal with the key works fine, just like it did with the Vista upgrade editions.

Nice!

This is what have just done:

Downloaded the files once purchased, and create a bootable ISO (imgburn). I used my sandisk 16gb and the windows tool to create a bootable USB device from the ISO imgburn created.

Installed and entered cd key when promted. Didnt get any messages or errors, just straight to another screen, but nothing to say it had activated. I thought it wouldnt have accepted it, but it let me pass onward.

Once in Windows 7, it said automatic activation in 3 days, or press to activate now. Press to activate now, and it will then say it is fully activated. You dont need to re-install or re-enter anything.

By the way, this was coming from a hard disk that had a copy of W7 64-bit ultimate (;)) on it. I simply pressed format disk as per usual, then press install on the same disk to install a fresh copy as before.

Whether it knew i had an activated Windows prior to me formatting, i dont know, but i suspect this student version of Windows 7 is exactly the same as a full retail, in the sense you can just install without having a copy of Windows already installed.

Wrong I'm afraid. See my post above. I tried to install on secure erased X25 from scratch, key didn't work as it would have on full retail. These student keys need to see a copy of windows (activated not required though it seems) to activate.

Mine installed and activated without a previous version of windows. This was from my bootdisc i made.
