They're not, you misunderstood his post. He's upgraded to 4GB of RAM, now he's going to take advantage of the student offer from Microsoft and get himself a copy of Windows 7 x64 for £30.

Edit 3: Dammit the webform is screwed up. Combo boxes aren't being populated. Anyone else not able to finalise their purchase?

Edit 4: Seems there is a problem if you select the disc version. Digital download still works as it does not need the address information.

Damn! I pre-ordered the wrong version from MS and I get no refund! :(
I wanted the Professional but ordered Home by accident! :(

They have no refund policy! XD

log into the digital download section of Digital river, I just used it to get another copy of my invoice and there was a cancel button.
 
So it's the upgrade version? What do I need, because I don't have a Vista licence, or an XP license.

Although I do have 2 email addresses ending in .ac.uk.

You can buy it anyway. Just obtain a licence cheap from somewhere. :)

Thank you! I couldn't see it. I think I need stronger glasses!

I hit the 'Process Cancelation' and it just brought me to the page where you enter your email to check if your eligible. :( No confirmation that it was cancelled or email confirmation!

Edit: I re logged in and clicked view invoice this time and it appears that the invoice is still valid! :(

Try again later their system is all over the place. My order of professional 64-bit for its description tell me it's a Office Ultimate Disc. Even though the product name is correct.

Remind me never to use digital river for anything important...
 
So who's buying what then:

Home Premium or Professional ?

I might spend the extra £9 for the CD.

Edit: Which one will be better for gaming ?

Hehe, I hope this is the case and their systems resolve! :( I sent them a mail before I tried all that cancellation malarkey anyway to change my Home to a Pro Order. I don't want to order another copy of W7 and have a dud W7 Home for no reason! Defeats the object of saving money!

Why don't you just burn the disk with a program yourself? Save yourself £9! I'm opting for the Pro as you get more features for no extra cost.

Professional has: "Windows XP Mode - gives you the business flexibility you need".

Not sure if professional is too business like tho for gaming and that, but as you said the price is the same.

Edit: So if i download right now i can start using it coz its release on 22 October?
