Subnautica

Got a question to you experts. I am guessing that the landscape underneath your vessel is different each time ? I watched cohh playing this ages ago and he was right ontop of the vines that contains the stuff needed for the repair tool, but in my game I can't see them anywhere near me. I guess those yellow something (can't recall the name on them, they do take up 4 slots in the inventory though I saw) is only found at one location ?

It's not different every time, it's split into biomes. You're probably just missing it, it can be hard to navigate at times. You can build markers and drop them round for navigation when you find stuff.

I haven't played Subnautica since I 'god moded' the game earlier in the year I believe when I explored the world many times over harvesting every large ore node in existence. It was so silly that I ended up with a few cyclops and seamoths!

I miss the game terribly still. Wish I could erase my experience and do it all over again. I could probably return now I guess and still have a blast just roaming around and seeing all my old bases.

Just got this a couple of days ago as it was free, i remember seeing stuff about this game and then promptly forgot about it, but after playing it i am hooked and i have been really bored with most games coming out these days, Its rare i get so immersed in a game so really enjoying it all, really makes me want to see it in VR too as i could imagine it would be impressive.

Kinda reminds me a little of Hardwar from 1997 which i loved, i did wonder if they called the SeaMoth that because the Hardwar craft were called moths, anyway having a great time in this game cant wait for the Below Zero game to come out too.

I, too, just downloaded the other day and played it for the first time last night. I didn't have a clue what I was supposed to be doing and died due to lack of food and water, so I had to refer to the Wiki to find out what I was supposed to be collecting and making with it. I've now got an inventory full of pipes and flares, useless at the moment but taking up all the space so I'll have a more comprehensive read-up on how to manage the resources better.

Dunno if I'll bother with Super Meat Boy, I can't do with frustratingly hard games.

I dumped a shed load of stuff on the sea floor while I explored and crafted enough to build a base and storage. So far its still there.......

Have you played the game just using the Prawn? :) grapple and jets for a nice game.

No :p
I had 4 cyclops full of lockers that were packed full of resources - all collected by a prawn suit/drill arm combo yes. My base was situated above the Lost River entrance, where there is a large bulb thing as I had built my base around that. The base too was full of lockers and resources lol. I basically explored every inch of the world many times over collecting stuff and having a great time in doing so - I just honestly wish the world was bigger!

The game (last I played it) does a fairly rubbish job at explaining things and you're left on your own right off the bat - I am not a fan of this method but there are gamers too that like it.

Immediately familiarise yourself with the Fabricator on the pod and its recipes and then explore slowly - be sure to mentally note your surrounding environment and what the various areas (biomes) look like. Try and focus on building yourself a scanner and a knife firstly. The latter you will need a lot to gather resources around the starting area and the former will be required to scan blueprints you find in wreckage scattered all over the shop. Keep at it, the rewards are great as you build yourself your first vehicle (forgotten the name), which greatly helps exploration/resource gathering.

Found them finally, about 200 meters or so from my pod. Also found some explosive fish that's less fun to be around !

Now I need to find Lead and Silver, have found one of each earlier but no clue where I found them so more searching around for them now. Still not found that markers thing though, hopefully it show up soon, be useful. Did get a blueprint for helping find ones way back out of any caves one enter, if needed.

In general for anyone that wanting to enlighten me. :p .. What you do with excess stuff ? I got loads of Titanium ore, I know you can use 10 and get an Ingot but.. don't want to do that and maybe shoot myself in the foot if the ingot's not used that much and I need the Titanium Ore more. Do you build storage containers for them or can they safely be dropped on the floor underneath the pod ? Or are the fishes gonna nab them if I do that !!

Tut. I'm on my second playthrough. Just built the suit and it fell through the map. And I didn't save for 2 hours. Honestly this game is both exhilarating and infuriating.

Built a second one and it’s got stuck 27m in the sky!

Have to say my second playthrough is not as easy as the first. I can’t seem to find the Moonpool blueprints at all. I’m going to be using the Cyclops a lot more than last time, it seems. :D

You can build floating lockers to keep stuff in or honestly like Minstadave says just drop it somewhere. It's persistent so will always be there and you'll probably end up building your base close to the Shallows anyway.

Just drop the excess stuff into a coral tube.

Don't make titanium ignots in the early game, the normak titanium is more useful.

Thanks to the both of you, I find myself a unoccupied coral tube and claim it as my drop off zone then ! :p

Looks like I made an error talking about Subnautica on Steam. It doesn't have cloud saving after all. What a crock!

Plus the Steam version seems to be well out of date, version 61056 v 61919 on Epic.

From the Subnautica forum : reply from a hour ago - "The current version of Subnautica on Steam is 61957 (in experimental branch). I don't know what version is in the public branch, but probably the 61056 which you mentioned." ...

I suggest you contact Epic and ask them why there's a different version.
Epic just updated their version of the game and it is now 61951. Looking at the version numbers it seems like Epic is pushing out the experimental version and not the last stable on as Steam is doing ??

@Old Man Where on the Sudnautica forum did you see that post ?? Tried to find it but seems I'm blind. :o
