Subnautica

Played this religiously for a couple of weeks a few months ago. Might have to give it another spin! I never got to the true depths and all this talk of scaring has piqued a morbid curiosity :D

When you think you’ve found nearly everything, it seems there’s more. I need nickel and kyanite or something. No idea where to look for those, they’ve never come up on any of my scanning bases yet.

Hints but no spoilers welcome!

You should aim for the mushroom trees.. There, very little given away.

Surprised how much fun I'm having playing this

It's fantastic, isn't it? Look at the time! 2.41am and I've had to talk myself into stopping and going to bed. :p

Thanks. I've found some nickel but it's very sparse. There are clumps of it but I'm going to have to relocate my base to deal with it all. Carry the prawn suit inside the cyclops and see what's going on. I still can't find the kyanite though. It must be below 900m which is my limit at the moment.

I’m trying to think what you mean by mushroom trees now. I might be way off mark.

The answer to everything is Go Deeper!

You can do that without going to the edge of the map :)

Aaah, I remember just crossing the perimeter of an area which was turning the screen orange/red but then I had to get out quick sharp because it was about 1000m down and I was running out of air. That's got to be it.

One of the things I enjoy about this game is that you can explore (just avoid looking for a quick answer on Youtube) just about anywhere, so no more tips....

Completed this at the weekend. I played survival mode and it took me 55hours. If I played it through again with the knowledge I have now it would be more like 15-20 I imagine.

As someone earlier said, best game I have played in 10 years. I couldn't name another game I have put the same amount of hours into... and the first thing I did when I finished? Was start again in creative mode :p

When piloting the cyclops - use the cameras! It's 10x easier, don't worry about bashing walls and floors it doesn't seem to cause damage, go easy on the silent running as it draws power quickly (and switch it off along with all other sub-systems when you leave - I learnt the hard way and came back to a cyclops with zero power). Have a few spare cells just in case. There are a load of lockers downstairs that I didn't even know about to begin with, use your cyclops as a mobile base, build more lockers, build plant beds (for food and water) etc. sometimes you could be away from your main base for ages.

Who was building a base down to the Bottom... Did you finish?

That was me :D

I still havent got around to finishing it, my base runs from the shallows near to where you start, all the way down to the lava tunnels. Almost down to the deepest parts but other games came along and I never got around to doing the last few hundred metres yet.

Its taken A LOT of harvesting of resources but its at a point now where I can literally run on foot all the way down to the edge of the lava areas lol

I never even thought of doing that! I'm probably going to try doing a smaller version of that at some point.

I still need two items of equipment (I looked at the Wiki to see what they are but not WHERE they are) so I'm going to try exploring for another day and see if it comes up or else I'll ask here for a tip.
