Subnautica

I still can't find the lost river, and can't find any nickel so I can't get much further. It's a bit of a bind to be honest, but an addictive one.

You're basically looking for holes in the ground leading to caverns when you're in certain biomes. The Blood Kelp and the Deep Grand Reef biomes are where you'll mostly find these entrances, but you need to keep going until you're about 500m deep.

Messing about near the Lava Castle area now with the Prawn suit - only got it upgraded to 1300m depth and no grapple... I might even have to build some stuff down there to get out again LOL.

The game took a massive nose dive for me to be honest once it progressed beyond what I could do with the Seamoth and the story threads becoming more obscure. Upto this point I was quite eager to play it now it is almost playing for the sake of it to complete it.

I can relate to this. I found the later parts of the game less enjoyable that the early parts for similar reasons. I was repeating the same journeys too often.

See the big ship that crashed? Let's call it North, so head west from your escape pod and look for anywhere that goes down and then keep going down.

There is actually a North in the game if you have the compass so that is a little confusing. But that is the easiest entry to the Lost River to find I think - if you look for the cloud on the horizon that overlaps the sea masking the floating island to the right of the Aurora wreck when looking at it from the starting location and head towards that then when you can see the island you should see the two halves of the island either side of a rock bridge immediately dive down and there should be an opening (quite a few predators around though) that eventually goes down to the Lost River.

Nickel will be in the Lost River. I'm going to guess that one of the entrances is +250, +1000 on the map (going right then up from 0,0)

I remember it being near a load of thermal vents as I had a power supply running from one of the vents up and over a mountain to my base on the other side. Frankly, I was amazed and overjoyed the power extension doo-dah actually worked!

hehe cheers problem is knowing where I am at the moment.. PITA not having some kind of indentification ability in the game. Even a little map would have been good.

Pretty sure that there is a way of using the command console to tell you which zone you are in and also coordinates.

The easiest way for me to find the lost river is that there is an entrance right next to life pod 2 which I would have thought you will have had the radio message for that by now.

Oooh cheers, that might work. Life Pod 2 has been discovered. I think I'm quite a way through the game, but with a few key things missing. I still haven't found the sonar for the Cyclops which is a royal pain.

Getting some of the Cyclops pieces needs you to take risks I found. Deeper places and those at the back of the Aurora were the best. I found a lot of stuff around the Sea Treader area and Grand reef.

Yeah completed it, wasn't a big fan of the Cyclops tbh, felt a bit unwieldy compared to the other smaller ship!

Still it got me where I needed to go. Great game though!
