Yet Suso is now one of the first names on the team sheet at AC Milan and very highly rated in Europe? Premier league teams need success and fans demand it. The gravy train needs to continue so young players rarely get a chance to establish themselves. If anything Liverpool are the exception with TAA.
Rashford wasn't that long ago, and JM also introduced McTominay (21 yo) last season - not exactly old by EPL standards, Im sure just like the other big teams United have some promising U18s (in age rather than in that group in the academy) who should get some time next season in the senior team.
Liverpool aren't that much of the exception.
In one sense its a lot easier for the kids of clubs lower down the league to make break throughs simply because they have less to lose - or rather its arguable that now a lot of games are so close / competitive nearly every substitution counts for the very top teams - can understand why the kids get less of a look in.
If only the EPL2 was more comparative to the main competition (this may make it easier to blood youngsters in EPL games)
I'm no expert on french stock markets I'm afraid but it's not simply selling one player though. It's a €60m transaction which is big business for a club with a turnover of sub €200m. Such a large deal could, in theory, lead to big swings in share price and I'd assume that the reason for any announcements to happen after close of business is to minimise this.
That's really interesting as Im sure not that long ago Utd HAD to wait for New York Stock Exchange to open before it was allowed to announce certain deals.
(of course that's not to say the NYSE and the FSE don't have different rules, not to mention of course any Utd deal is a lot less likely to affect their price than any deal for Lyon. But they still were forced to do it while the market was open).
edit - really disappointed Talisca has gone to China, a lot of reports suggested we put in a decent offer for him (~£35m) , after what JM has said over the years about him, its not too far out there to think Utd did put an offer on the table, although impossible to know how much was upfront of course.
