Summer Transfer Thread 2018

I doubt we’ll get Banega. Quite a lot of reports that his family are dead set against moving to London. Can’t say I blame them. Would you move from Sevilla to London at the moment? Damn sure I wouldn’t.

This is not Arsene Wenger's Arsenal any more. Players sometimes move to clubs whose manager got the best out of them at previous clubs.

Any one able to make sense of this guys take on the Arsenal finances?

By he's maths the Torreira deal will cost us nothing.

Also goes on to explain how with very little money we could be looking at 5th and 6th signings.

I can get his point to an extent - in Arsenal's accounts the transfer fee is spread throughout the length of their contract, rather than a single up-front cost appearing on the books. As neither Wilshere or Cazorla have a transfer fee currently being amortised, releasing them doesn't create an additional 'cost' on the accounts.

Of course, the situation here is dramatically over-simplified, but the basic premise is sound.

Taking this concept further, if Cech were to be released, a proportion of his current wages could be used to balance out the cost of further signings

His maths are a load of *******s. All he's saying is that the money you're spending has been recouped by letting other players go. He's basically saying you can get BT Sports for free if you cancel Sky Sports - you're not getting BT for free though, you're just paying for it with the money saved from cancelling Sky.

What's wrong with London at the moment?
As I said earlier, it’s becoming a crime ridden cesspit. Moped muggings, stabbings, acid attacks, it’s just getting worse here. Plus pace of life and climate wise, I’m sure Sevilla is a nicer place to live than London, but I suppose it’s what you want in life. Banega may want the city life, but it seems his family don’t.

Surely you know that it varies depending on where you are in London, and who you are... the risk isn't uniformly spread :o. It's not as though he's going to move into a council flat in Newham... he'd live in a nice bit. And it's not as though he'd have to live a 'city life'. He could easily live in the Chilterns, if he wanted to! Basically everything you're saying is lol.
Everything I say is lol to you Moses. Why don’t you just block me so you don’t have to read my ramblings and proceed to put every little thing I say down. You could have left it at living in the Chilterns, but no, you have to go trying to belittle me again with saying my entire post is lol. Im sick of it, just bore off or try to engage with me in a way that doesn’t try to make you look superior and me like an idiot all the time.

You could've avoided the Daily Mail-esque assessment of London and I'd've said nothing .

ANYWAY... I can't work out if all of Arsenal's signings are meh, or if it's all they need to do to have a good enough team to allow their star players to flourish. I mean, both strikers have good scoring rates since joining, right?
Lacazette is pretty good at around one in two, but PEA’s is pretty amazing, not too far off a goal a game so far. If he can carry that on next season, it’d be fantastic.

I think the signings seem meh, but we actually have a very good squad anyway from midfield forward, so I don’t think we needed anything overly major. It feels like he’s plugging the gaps atm. Whether it’s enough to improve anything remains to be seen, but it’s a good foundation to move forward from and stability is so important after a big long serving manager leaves and there’s a shake up. I think that’s why it was good that the new guys who joined when Wenger was there have remained.

It's clearly ******** but I'd love it to happen silly season claims we bid up to 180m for ascensio in no world as it happened.

However I think he is quality and would love him to join us.

Guess that spells the end of Luke Shaw at Utd then
There are rumours Shaw will get an offer this summer (whether he laughs in their face is another matter of course)

Latest is Utd are not looking for another full back after Dalot and going to put those funds towards elsewhere in the team...….but I guess we wont know that for sure until Aug 15th or when ever it is.
As with majority of big teams Utd are linked with 10 different players for each position (even those we don't want to strengthen) on a daily basis

Ings is off then, says he needs more gametime and Liverpool havent been able to guarantee that, not really a surprise, he needs gametime to get his career back on track after the injuries (still only 25 of course) , cant begrudge him wanting to move to secure match time, he'd only be a back up at Liverpool.

Read, in DM so take with the usual salt, that Utd are interested in Fekir. Could just be Lyon/agent trying to push Liverpool into renewing an offer though.
