**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Unbelievable how good Wenger is in the transfer market, £22m profit on Ade in about 3 years, making 100 times profit on Toure (£150k to £15m). Christ, sometimes it's easy to forget how much of a genius he is. No wonder the board think he's a god.

Even though I'm no Gooner, I am surprised at the amount of fans who have turned against their manager and players. Adebayor in my opinion wasn't great but still, he scored goals and is way better than Bendtner who is truly woeful. I was sad to see fans turning against someone who scored goals for their club.
I'd never boo one of my own.

Anyway, I think Wenger is an incredible manager and I'd not doubt him and his skill for a minute. He WILL have something up his sleeve, mark my words. He's not lost it and I can definitely see him making some of his usual quality signings. He doesn't spend big but the players he has bought over the years have by and large been great signings. He is probably one of, if not the best manager in the transfer market. He's a good businessman.

I'm hoping on another note that Liverpool can sign someone with proven quality and keep Alonso.
I feel really sorry for Xabi because the way Real have carried on and on about him must be incredibly unsettling. He can rest assured that he is loved by his fans and admired by many neutrals too. It's also incredible how Real have got away with their conduct over Xabi and a transfer. I hope that he will wear a red shirt for many seasons to come.
I'd also love it if Rafa managed to sign another goalscorer or attacking option with flair... Then again, if he gave Ryan Babel more of a chance (he's still so young!) we may not necessarily need anyone. Although I hear he's likely to leave as he can get first team football anywhere he chooses to be fair.

It will be very interesting to see what Wenger does in the coming weeks but also interesting to see what Rafa does too.

Gooner14: I'm not saying we won't buy, just not to replace Toure. Personally I'd like to see us with another CB who can cover one either righr or left back if needed and a VERY good DM to partner Cesc. No more strikers / wingers please mr wenger!

I think DM might be right (what choo talking bout willis) Wenger will possibly stick with Denilson/Song/Diaby for another season and load up offensively even further.

Of course we're loaded with offensive power but Huntelaar would be a stellar buy.

Sakho - still quite young

City truly are mental.
They have bought one lazy striker, 2 non scoring strikers, and are now preparing to buy a defender who cant defend anymore.
What are they on?

Really really hoping Sunderland pick up Bent, he'll be a massive boost for us. There's some waffle at the moment on the Sky Sports Sunderland page about Jones' long term future with Sunderland if they get Bent... frankly, I can't see why. I think Brucey will offload O'Donovan, Stokes and Murphy. That'll leave us with Bent, Jones, Campbell and Waghorn.

It was also mentioned on Sky Sports that with Spurs being interested in Jones earlier that Bruce might want to sell with Bent coming in, but I can't see him doing that.

Still waiting to hear about Chamakh too, but tbh I can't see Sunderland progressing further with that with the Bordeaux Chairman being a right **** saying he won't sell him to Sunderland as we're not big enough.

Toure's gone? Damn, I used to like him on the pitch; my memories of him will be when he was on form and played with his heart on his sleeve. He's also the last of our invincibles as well I think.

Recently though he's been a bit hit and miss and who knows what happened around the time he got Malaria. If we really can't get the best of out of him anymore, then I don't see what else it is that City can do and they could end up having blown £15m. Not that they would mind.

We also have one less very experienced player in the squad. And in terms of experienced CBs we only have Gallas. Great, I can see him being a fantastic tutor.

We aren't going to win the league anytime soon, as a fan I can accept that; Wenger should just make it his priority to get to next year's Champion's League. However the big four is really under threat now with us looking the most likely to drop out. Selling the club's players abroad is fine, particularly when good cash is offered, but it seems a dangerous (financial) game to play domestically. Not only have City got two of our first team guys, but they're probably going to end up competing with us for fourth spot; £40m gained now could be short sighted if we don't qualify next year. We also have Everton who are always right up there, and I'm sure Villa will be eager to make amends for last season when only fatigue, not lack of talent cost them.

If we could use the potential £50m from Ade/Toure/Eboue on Melo/Huntelaar/Sakho we could have one hell of a season if we had a good run with injuries.

Either way you can't refuse £15m for Toure and i doubt City will be forcing us out of the top 4 just yet.

Part of me suspects we will have some super signings in the next couple of weeks, but Wenger is such a wry old fox you wouldn't be surprised if we were stuck with what we have now :D

Arsenal, buy yourselves a decent DM, Sakho and don't sell Eboue, he's good back up for right back.

Wanger knows what he's doing. I agree, I like it when Arsenal fans and Manchester United fans think the manager is doing something wrong.

i wounder what the chances are of fergie signing beckham,I would love to see him back at utd.I think he could do a job for us this season

What job? Creating media frenzy and then being fairly average for the season?

IMO he wouldn't fit in to the Utd squad as a regular...
