He came on in the last friendly and flew out at the same time as the rest of the squad. All of which have a few days off.

Image how hard it would be to actually stop supporting a team. You can get frustrated by their play and what they do but I dont think you could ever stop supporting them. If you could I dont think you really supported them in the first place.
Well yes as I've supported them since I was a nipper and have met several players etc but the whole issue annoys me something shocking. I've adored alonso since he came to the club and think hes a genius (im sure many people feel differently.) It seems in the last year lots more have jumped on board with him.
We stood at least some chance this season if we built on last and werent too unlucky with injuries or gerrard dishing out beatings. Obviously theres no point in keeping a player that wants to leave but this is Rafa's doing with the Barry saga last year which was completely retarded. I was nearly crying with joy when that fell through.
If Masch goes too thats the side wrecked for some time. Love good old Burnley as well as my mates dad used to play for them, come on Pato!
Alonso will be hard to replace, but I have felt since the Carr-Arb incident at West Brom something like this was inevitable.
With Arby all but gone, and him and Alonso being close mates it seems inevitable. Rafa seems to have laid down the guantlet to Alonso now, so if he wants the move he will have to put the request in.
Who we get to replace him im not sure, no doubt we could use Gerrard there but I feel he likes his new role. Whoever comes in I doubt they will hit teh ground running.

I'm still feeling the effects of over-exposure to Degan during pre-season. I've just read that Arbeloa's gone and I've suddenly vomited a piece of lung in worry. Help
To be fair to the lad we have not seen him play properly yet. he does look like he can't defend though which is an issue for a full back
I will reserve judgement for now. If he does turn out to be pants, young Darby will get a game or 2.
I'm not too bothered about Alonso to be honest...bigger and better players have left Liverpool before and its not been a problem (in fact in some cases the replacement has proved to be even better). Would just be happy if the whole saga gets over and done with, he wants to go...lets just let him go as soon as possible so that we have plenty of time to spend his money.
Glad that Arbeloa got the move he wanted, I remember last summer him saying that he was unsettled in England and wanted to return to spain. He gave it another year but still felt it so my thanks goes to him for trying for another year. Best of luck Arby.

Shame to see Arby go
He'd become a decent RB and particularly this season he'd have provided great cover across the back 4 but with his contract being up next summer there wasn't much we could do.
Well that isn't strictly true BaZ is it. You could have bought a new Forward instead of spaffing £18m on Glenn Johnson and got Arbelo signed up to a new contract
I'm not entirely sure that Arbeloa would have signed a new contract, he didnt feel settled in England, said as much last summer but tried for another year. Really think he wanted to return to Spain so I dont think he would have signed for another contract.
