**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Great servant to the club, but past his best and £16M is a phenomenal price to get for him.

Over to you Mr. Wenger, get your cheque book out!

I thought Insua was a hot prospect for Liverpool but they've just said on the friendly commentary 80% of him is owned by Boca now and he's expected to move there next season, any truth in this?

Thats news to me, what game are you watching?

He was part of a swap deal with Paletta going to Boca.

No. We initially took him on loan but as Saviola says, we fully signed him as part of the swap deal with Paletta going to Boca. We retained some sort of % ownership of Paletta though.

Personally I don't think £16m is that great a deal for Toure, considering we sold him to the richest club in the world and one of our main potential rivals for CL qualification. He's a good player and I'm never 100% confident that Gallas won't throw a paddy at some point during the season. I think he was also the only player left at the club who had won the league with us, shocking to see the invincibles all gone in only 5 years.

I suppose with the ACoN coming up you could say it's not a bad time to sell, but I'll miss him and still think he could have been a potential foil for Cesc.

Wenger was known to be chasing Lescott when he was at Wolves, he shirked at the £10m asking price though so I can't see him being able to prise him away from Everton what with MC sniffing around too.

I dunno, maybe we should try a cheeky bid for Wheater or something what with Boro going down. I know he's stated he won't be looking to leave but he might develop into a decent player and should be better backup than Djourou/Senderos/Song. Got the right passport too of course.

I still wish we keep hold of him though. He is only 28 and i think he has a very good 5 years ahead of him. £16m for someone in last year of contract is good though seeing as he did put in a transfer request last season. Would have been a lot worse if he left for free next summer.

Still cant see Wenger getting anyone else in though. I think this is the team that he is rolling with now. Lets hope he is right. :D

I thought he was last year of contract but according to SSN I think it was, he has 2 years left. Its horrible business though, we have two options paying the same amount for someone as good, if not more, when we frankly should already have him on a 5 year contract. If he had been tied to a real contract a while ago we'd have been able to sell him for a lot more. If Lescott is going to be about 20mil, and he's never won a thing, Toure has to be worth more. In all likelyhood we won't be buying.

Song/Djourou at centreback, considering yet again in a preseason first half Gallas/Verm looked quality, second half Djourou was making mistake after mistake and Song/Denilson in midfield constantly slowed attacks, made bad passes and yet again Song was failing to run all the way back when tracking runs from midfield in the second half, he looked poor once Verm went off... only looked like a light knock and being careful, if he's already injured I'll cry.

As for whoever was saying you never know when Gallas will have a paddy, could you please name a time for me while at Arsenal or Chelsea he has "thrown a paddy" during a game, ever? No, neither can I, sitting down after the worst game of his career(as a team) after seeing his friends bone sticking out of his leg and a awful ref give away the game, he SAT DOWN....... paddy my arse.

Fabregas was quality tonight, Bendtner was running most of our attack in the first half, second half without those two on the pitch we were a different team. Fabregas after his goal even dropped deeper than our TWO DM's, because they were doing badly. We're playing a 4-3-3, sacrificing a striker, just so we can play two DM's, because they are so poor one of them isn't enough. Clearly dropping a player to make up for how crap they are makes more sense than replacing both players with one talented DM. :(

No he threw a paddy, watch the game again. Before the penalty was taken, he was an the other end of the pitch, throwing his hands in the air and kicking advertisting hordings. That's a paddy, and totally unprofessional.

Of course it's a paddy, apart from anything else when you aren't winning you shouldn't be sat around on the pitch, you should be up and at them like the rest of the team.

Besides, I never said anything about on the pitch, the media portrayal of Gallas always leads me to believe that he's prone to inappropriate outbursts, and obviously the club agrees given that he was stripped of the captaincy last year.

Is Gallas a good player? Yes
Can I be 100% confident that he will be 100% committed and 0% disruptive this season? No. And regardless of what anyone says, that's a F-A-C-T, because it's MY confidence. I believe we need another top class CB to replace Toure and give us options for when the first choice pairing aren't delivering for whatever reason.
