**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Gallas went mental at Craven Cottage when he was with Chelsea didn't he?

Not sure but in the fall out from his transfer to Arsenal there was all sorts of claims about how he threatened to score own goals or get himself sent off. French/African players are typicaly moody ****ers though.

Arsenal are out of the CL spot thats for sure and I am actually worried that they could find it very difficult to get into Europe and thats no joke. They found it difficult last season and only for Villa to mess it up, they would have lost their CL spot. This season, everyone has improved and Arsenal are falling apart.

I wouldn't go that far. We have players coming back from injury and we've only sold adebayor and toure, they didn't contribute that much to be honest. And last year we didn't need Villa to fall apart. Need I remind you of the unbeaten run? Was it 20 games or so? Also in comparison to Man City who are touted as our main rivals this year our pre season has so far been far superior to their shambles. Mark Hughes shouldn't even be at that club he has no clue. It's like he's played Fifa, seen who's highly rated and then bought them... A bunch of flair players that have no hope of winning anything except a mickey mouse cup or two.

I'm not overly concerned by City either to be honest, Villa are weaker and Everton remain the same. I think worst case we'll make a safe 4th again. Not that i'm particularly happy about it though :(, the reason we did so bad last season was due to our light squad and nothing has changed about that.

I think people are over reacting. Yes we havent strengthened in the areas we all hoped but we dont have a bad team of players.

City do have a good first team but their strength in depth isnt much better than ours. They have a lot of cover for the attacking options like us but little more. Villa took everyone by surprise last year but I think teams will be more weary of them now and ready.

I see the papers are linking us with Patrick which I think would be good and by the one year contract sounds like it could even be real.

Hmm, that wouldnt be so bad actually. It would definitely be good for Song having someone like that to learn off. Does Paddy still have the legs for the EPL though?

Rafa is supposedly chasing Lee Cattermole and Hull defender Michael Turner to boost english player quota if we lose Alonso, which is almost certain by the looks of things. :(

That would be handy, I have both those in my fantasy team as makeweights, so if we signed them both too then I would end up with Reina, Gerrard, Torres, Cattermole and Turner in my team all from Liverpool :D

Handy yes, but they are by no means any type of replacement for Alonso. PERIOD. Shame we were talking up a story for Silva and Cambiasso then move to these players.

:(

It really is quite an over-reaction.

We've lost a trouble maker who was always going to go. He had ****ed off pretty much everyone and the fans didn't want him. With Arshavin coming in for his first full season and Edu looking fit we are arguably stronger in attack than we were last season.

Losing Toure is a blow but this is something that was looking likely in January and with the signing of Vermaelan (who is looking great) and the return of Sendoros we are probably about the same. £16mil is crazy money for him as well.

I see us as no weaker than last year and depending on how Verm goes and the impact Arshavin and Edu have we could be stronger.

The Paddy story was in the Scum so probably has no legs but I'd welcome him back to add some grit to the midfield and what better mentor for Song? I'd imagine fellow frenchman Gallas would welcome it as well if only to have someone around closer to his age to talk to. :)

Vieira would sit in front of the back four leaving Fabregas to roam and do what he does best. Would be a cracking buy IMO.

Then you'd have a problem because you're only allowed 3 per team :p

Unless they have changed the rules for the one I play it wouldnt count as transferred players dont count in the quota. I did the same last year, where one player joined another team and it meant that I had 4 players in my team from the same team. Still let me keep them all.
