**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

I suspect he is should be back, we play tomorrow so he'll certainly be back by then, although I guess there might be some press conferences today for the Cup.

Was it Athletico in the Amsterdam cup that we play this weekend, against Ajax they were brutal in tackling, preseason friendly my ass, I'm worried that some of our more injury prone players are going to be destroyed against them.

As for rumours, sounds like Wengers still trying to sell Eboue, and buy a striker.

Did anyone see the table on the last day of the season, we scored the same amount as Utd, the champions, yet conceded 37 to their 24 goals. The first and only year we had Gallas/Toure play all year long we lost 3 games, did unbelievably well, we had a chance to build on that but he wants to push in younger cheaper players, look how that turned out. Verm might look quality but one injury and we're back to last year. Scoring wasn't the problem at any stage last year, it was always conceding right the way through.

We lost one striker, our worst one, we have a massive array of strikers at the club, yet we're looking to spend on strikers. A CB and a real DM along with not having the lazy Ade upfront and I'd put us as title contenders, without a DM and hugely vunerable at the back to a injury and we'll struggle to make the CL.

I guess even funnier is this switch to 4-3-3, with only one real strikers slot, too many strikers to start with, so he's looking to buy a striker?

I can understand Bent's frustration, Spurs don't want him that much is perfectly clear yet Levy is prolonging the whole thing. Levy deserves any criticism thrown his way, he prolonged the whole Berbatov deal last summer right up until the last day meaning there was no time to bring anyone in to replace him, Berbatov wanted to leave. You can't hang onto a player if he desperately wants to leave, Levy just showed himself up as the arrogant ***** he is.

I haven't seen much of Aquilani, at least nothing that made me take notice. What kind of role does he play? Just a slightly worse Alonso in terms of playing the passing game?

Who fancies taking out Masch's wife? Need to keep him here!

Its easy to place the blame on Levy, but are you sure Redknapp's not just said if we can't get 15 mil don't sell him, as he needs 15 mil to buy the replacement he wants? It could just as easily be Levy, but its not a certainty, considering Redknapp has said they want to sell for around what they paid for him and does seem to want to buy Huntelaar as a replacement its rather worthless selling him for 9 mil if that means he can't buy Huntelaar.

Its still nuts to sell the top scorer and criticise him all year, then demand top dollar for his sale no matter whose responsible.

Might just be me, but Bent's twittering really doesn't seem a big deal to me, he didn't call Levy a rude word, he just said he was essentially "screwing around" and he wished it would stop. As for being "pee'd off" that he doesn't know whats going on, seems understandable and since when did pee'd off become such a massively rude thing to say. 15 years ago pee'd off was the safe and non rude way to say the f off version.

Bent is probably a little naive to be posting that on Twitter, but you can understand his frustration. Despite finishing as the club's top scorer in a relatively mediocre season (when the whole team wasn't playing particularly well) he's not been wanted at the club for some time and appears to be being forced out by Harry who has his favourites. Yanked off the plane for the pre-season tour at the last minute, he's sitting at home waiting for his future to be decided... the lad just wants to play football regularly in the premiership for a decent team.

He knows that if he can't get out of Tottenham in this window, his chance of playing in the world cup next year is diminished short of some freak injuries at Tottenham.

Anyone seen this

You Bet Man City Star Will Buy Ronaldo's House: Will They Paint It Blue!
It is a sign of the times as Manchester City look set to outbid Manchester United in the race to land Ronaldo's House! Hills have opened a book on which of the minted Man City new boys will buy Ronaldo's house, Hills offer 3/1 Toure, 4/1 Adebayor and an optimistic 8/1 that a Man Utd player buys it. After the recent poster campaign, Hills are offering 50/1 that whoever buys it paints it Blue.

:p

yep, naive maybe, but not bad and I agree what else is he supposed to be thinking.

Frankly when a club literally throws you off a plane saying, go sign for this club already, then screw about over the price you can't help but be pee'd off. I'd be livid, lets be honest, he could have been playing pre-season with Spurs, working out a contract over the phone easily and IF a fee was agreed he could go take a medical.

Spurs(be it Levy or Redknapp) clearly wanted to "hook" sunderland on the deal but showing the player is fit, ready, willing before using that to tell them the price is higher than they wanted.

Theres fans around saying bent doesn't offer what others do, which is fair but he's a out and out striker, never claimed to be anything else and need not offer anything else to the team.

I don't get this shift, people seem to think a striker that doesn't drop deep is bad now, but look how it works out for those that do, Tevez, no goals, useless. Its funny that years ago you'd have two strikers who didn't need to run to midfield to help out, and they'd score more and the teams could still defend and win the ball back just fine. Get the feeling a constant run and full season at a semi decent team and he'll score a bunch of goals.

WTF is going on with Alonso? The Echo say he's been transfer listed, his agent says he hasn't and the club haven't confirmed or denied the story. It's a joke. If Real want him they should pay the asking price and stop ****ing around.

Im tempted to fly to Liverpool and offer myself as some sort of sex slave to Alonso if he stays. Though I imagine better looking men and women do this on a regular basis when he goes outside

Sounds like nothing more than technicalities. Alonso probably hasn't handed in an official written transfer request, just made it clear that he 100% wants to join Real.

As for Real meeting the asking price; reportedly they need to offload some players before they can. One way or another this needs to get sorted; if he does go then we need enough time to tie up any replacements (which I'm sure we're already negotiating some deals) and give them a little bit of time before the season kicks off.

If he has handed in a transfer request I don't understand why the club haven't officially announced it. We don't want to keep it under wraps we want to let other clubs know so they start a bidding war

Maybe they'd much prefer to keep hold of him. He can hand in a transfer request if he likes, but if a club doesn't come in with the magic number, there's not much he can do about it.

isnt he supposed to be buying £12m striker mourane chamakh from bordeaux as well

I can't see Wenger paying 12m for him, then again I can't belive he would pay 30m for De Rossi. Although Arshvin's initial price was much higher, we then paid much less. De Rossi is the type of player we need though, but like I said, I'll believe it when it happens.
