Pure speculation; I can't even see a quote from Wenger in reference to him, let alone expressing an interest in buying him. The article also mentioned that Viera has been told he can't come back to the Emirates 'privately', again no references but I guess if it was off the record that's the point. I saw Wenger linked to a youngish French (suprise, suprise) defensive midfielder, and I think that's far more likely to happen.

I think Wenger is looking to improve his squad far more than he's letting on - he's just putting himself into the typical position of firstly making out he doesn't need to buy, and secondly he has a lot options open to him (when he was speaking to Chamakh's club chairman he was at pains to emphasise the player was on large shortlist). I would expect a defensive midfielder and striker by the end of season, with perhaps a centre-back if the price is right, and the biggest obstacle to this would be the stubborness of clubs to relent to Wenger's terms (and I think there is an element of truth when he says he isn't desperate to bulk up his squad, so I don't think he'd budge either).

This is exactly the kind of tactics that resulted in Zenit blubbering they didn't wring more money out of the Arse coffers last January and causes the odd deal to fall through, but damn if it doesn't get the Gooners some good deals.

"****ing around" is the only way Real know how to conduct business. If you want a good price, you need to play the waiting game like ManU did with CR. Otherwise they're more than happy to sit back and unsettle a player until it becomes untenable.

They’ll get Alonso, and probably for a good price. Rafa needs to face that, and get round to finding a decent replacement.
 
To be fair, all the BS before Ronaldo signed seems just that as it seems they agreed the deal ages and ages ago in private. LIkewise the Kaka deal was seemingly done in Jan and went through quietly, I also saw very little horsing around with their defenders being signed, nor with Benzema.

Infact ignore the English press and I'm not sure what Real have done wrong, except so far not be held hostage to Benitez's price. Theres nothing to say they HAVE to match that price and all the crap from the deal I hear on the price is Benitez or Alonso/agent talking about him leaving.

If we ***** 30mil on De Rossi, i'll be shocked, and cry, hugely over rated, Italians might rave over him, but they rave over most of that Italy squad which is largely over rated fairly poor players these days.

But all signs point to the fact that we HAD 3 world class central midfield players who were defensively minded, and we sold them all because Wenger thought Denilson/Song were good enough. Has there been a single indication ALL SEASON that he thinks anything other than those two being the future of the club? If he thinks those two are brilliant, why would he buy. For instance, say he had Macherano and Hargreaves(fit) in their prime, would you expect him to buy. The thing is, he seems to think those two will be as good, wherein lies the problem.
 
haha last week some Arsenal fan photoshopped the Arsenal squad list with De Rossi's name on as a joke, I hope this isn't the 'source' that all these rumours are using. De Rossi won't leave Roma (him and Totti are huge in Rome), Wenger won't pay £30m+ to make it happen, that said - he'd be perfect ..
 
Hm fair enough, but I think De Rossi would be the last player they'd let go of, he's their best player (or one of) and he's their local hero, I'm sure they'd sell others before De Rossi

Please DM get over Denilson and Song. I think everyone of your posts includes some sort of attack on these players even if the subject isnt about them. We get it, you dont rate them. :rolleyes:

We get linked with loads of players but none of them come off because he is happy with the squad and the only thing that I can imagine is that be feels he owes these players a chance to prove themselves.

Roll on the new season so these spec stories will end and we can start the football. :D

Hmm just realised i can't log on either, says "the version of the game is not supported". Has there been a patch released or is my key banned?
