Varying stories regarding Alonso. Some reports in Spain are saying that Real are still not close to our valuation and the press over here are reporting that Real have backed down and are now a lot closer to our valuation with a deal close to being finalised.

I hope we can hurry up and get this Alonso deal done, the start of the season is drawing nearer and I would really like to see the Alonso money spent on new faces prior to the season start. More than that, I think we NEED to. Alonso going is a shame, but to be honest I think it could prove to be a good thing, especially if it allows us to flesh the squad out a little (providing the money is spent wisely)
 
Todays Echo says that Madrid have agreed to pay £30m, with reports of them close to selling Sneijder to Inter. It also mentions Aquilani as being lined up as his replacement.

Funny reading the comments about Degen, its as if the Echo is trying its best to get his arse out of the club too :D

Think thats slightly harsh, he does the basics very well! He just doesnt have a footballing brain at all.

Liverpool have signed Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani for £15.3m. (Spanish newspaper Marca)


Sneijder is off to Inter in a possible cash+swap for Maicon which can't be true as RM have got Ramos and Arbeloa!
 
Fulham New Transfers

Talk that Diomansy Kamara is off to someone in France, PSG/Bordeaux interested.

Also Roy was apparently watching Rasmus Elm yesterday..not sure if hes any good, but targeted by Man City/Everton.

Also apparently Dikgacoi is apparently meant to seal the move today (after a year!), and apparently Fulham ready to try sign Daniele Dessena.

Hopefully get someone....lol.

If we are after him (which it seems we are) and if we're going to be paying ~£15m on him then you've got to think that any deal will only go ahead if the club is 100% happy with his fitness and that his previous problems are not long standing, and he's just been unlucky.
 
Blackburn Rovers Transfers

I swear the bbc just read the 606 forums to get these rumours. Those Blackburn ones have been going around for days. Hopefully we'll get Kalinic but I can't help but keep thinking that weve got 12 days to go and still no recognised striker?

Roberts is good and probably our best at the minute however his inconsistency infront of goal worries me. McCarthy has fantastic technique but neither the workrate or the fitness to go with it. Potts and Hoilett are in my opinion far too young to be playing regularly and although Gallacher has had a great pre-season i'm not sure ifhe'll be able to carry it over in to the season proper.

Kalinic looks like an exciting buy but his age (21) means he is still a developing player and although he would be good for us i'd like a more recognised name up front with him, someone who is known as a good goalscorer.
