**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Ireland seems to have done OK?

I wish he'd gone to City, we'd probably have managed a sell-and-loan-back deal.

Ireland seems to have done OK?

Erm so?

Last summer the only major signing was Robinho who plays in a completely different position to Ireland hence why Ireland got games, any young player going to City from now on would be insane as they're never going to get games ahead of the big money signings.

As it is City have a promising talent named Michael Johnson who will no doubt have limited appearances due to the millions spent this summer (obviously thought Johnson needs to get fit first)

Barcelona-target Javier Mascherano's agent Sebastian Mascherano insists his client and brother remains interested in a move to Barcelona.

Barca have been linked with the no-nonsense Argentine midfielder for most of the summer, but with Xabi Alonso nearing a move to Real Madrid it seems unlikely he would now be available at any price.

"If Barca come up with the money then things could change quite quickly because Javier remains very interested, but it's important they make the first move," said the player's brother.

For anyone who wanted further proof that Mascherano (or at least his agent) is haggling for a move away

Will be gutted to lose Delph, rather he goes to Villa than City though for sure.

10 Million would be a nice sum for the club hopefully to grab somebody decent enough to fill his spot and spend some more on the youth team and get some more players through the ranks.

Mascherano's agent is his brother?

I can't believe people say it's just his agent stirring **** all the time, I'm sure his brother only says things Javier wants the media to hear.

Johnson is a mess and wouldn't be in the first team even if City weren't billionaires.

Plus he's fat as **** now. :D

Until Masch says it i wont worry too much but if he goes too its going to be even worse for us next season =/ Regarding Villa as much as id like him to partner torres like he does for spain i cannot see it happening we wouldnt have the money to compete with UTD for a start and valencia will want silly money.

Cant comment on his weight as I haven't seen him recently but two seasons ago he looked a real talent and I know as recently as last season there were still high hopes for him

£10m is good price for Delph, wish we had a season with him under Grayson but looks like its not meant to be. Great shame, i had visions of Kilkenny/Howson/Delph/Snodgrass been the midfield for years to come!

At least we dont have money problems anymore! :p Bates is running a nice business with us at the moment!

EDIT: I really hope Delph goes to Villa, O'Neill is a great manager!

Man U and Pool fighting for villa according to the independent:

I thought they were meant to be a reputable paper? £25 million??? They think villa would be sold for the same price as adebayor? :/

Well thats good news, as its a fahct that Ferguson most definately isnt signing anyone else this summer, it means that Liverpool is the only possibility :)

(not that Villa will leave Spain for anyone anyway)

Just seen Arshavin's goals against Athletico. Quality finishing, 1st goal was very clever - lined himself up for the far post then side foots it, keeper should have pushed it round mind. How did he get the 2nd goal in aswell?

Leeds United can confirm that a fee has been agreed with Aston Villa for Fabian Delph.

Leeds United wishes to place on record our appreciation for the honourable manner in which Aston Villa have conducted their interest in the player.

The club has resisted approaches from other FA Premier League clubs since agreeing terms with Aston Villa.

Having given Villa our commitment to transfer the player (subject to medical), we had no intention of going back on that.

So even if City double Villa's offer we're sticking with it :/

I don't think Villa will leave Spain.

Not unless someone throws him into a box and sneaks him out at night onboard a small boat. That or some kind of chemical agent to temporarily paralyse him. Short of such methods I dont think anyone will be able to budge him from his homeland. Kind of refreshing really in a way.
