**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Liverpool are expected to end their 17-year association with shirt sponsor Carlsberg when their current £8m-a-year deal finishes at the end of the season. Banking giants Standard Chartered are expected to replace Carlsberg for about £15m-a-year.

Awww :(

Carlsberg is just plain cool and they do the best football teams ;)

Hoping Ipswich will get Gio Dos Santos from Tottenham again on loan this year... i'm very surprised the guy hasn't already been picked up by a smaller Premiership team though to be honest.

His passing and finishing for me. Didn't he get golden boot in a youth world cup? Then we churned him into pure defensive turd. He missed a handful of real sitters from my memory and his cross field passing was woeful, gave away the ball numerous times

He's still maturing as a player to be fair to him. A lot of 'oh no' moments but it's part and parcel of learning the game, especially when you're 22 and particularly when you're from an entirely different continent where the football is very different and probably less competitive.

The weight gain has been added for him to cope better with the league's demands.

Strangely I heard a rumour few days ago saying Rafa was going to ship [Lucas] him back to Brazil and that we'd get Cattermole or Defour in as a replacement.

I very much hope he gets a chance in the first team this year. I think he's great. So much so, his name is on the back of the shirt I'm wearing this very moment. :p

On Bassong, it would appear we have delayed sending the paperwork, meaning he is still a N'castle player and will complete his ban tonight.

Surely not if he hasn't been registered for Newcastle? Which I doubt he has.

There's only one way to find out....

Grr, more strange news from Arsenal, Traore has been refused to join Brum till end of august at the earliest depending on what we do in the transfer market. Which is nuts, because at best he's a 3rd choice left back whose older and worse than gibbs with no signs of improvement. Lazy defensively, pacey but not a great cross or decision making. Basically he's no chance of ever staying, unless people are offering cash for a full transfer seems odd to not let him out on loan.

Especially as Brum might get someone instead in the meantime then we're stuck with an unhappy playing sucking money out while doing nothing.

Even more strange, Merida, an attacking, can play anywhere midfielder who was superb in the emirates cup, can play wing while we have no one for the right, can step in for Rosicky(maybe permanently) and really should be getting games, and we've sent him off for another year.

Why have them, pay them, get them ready for their chance, then sell or send them off. You look at Gibson and Welbeck who played fairly poorly if not flat out badly but got chances, real chances, throughout the year.

He looked a good prospect at Barcelona, he has never looked great for Spurs. You can see why you only paid 3m odd now
