**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Grr, more strange news from Arsenal, Traore has been refused to join Brum till end of august at the earliest depending on what we do in the transfer market. Which is nuts, because at best he's a 3rd choice left back whose older and worse than gibbs with no signs of improvement. Lazy defensively, pacey but not a great cross or decision making. Basically he's no chance of ever staying, unless people are offering cash for a full transfer seems odd to not let him out on loan.

Especially as Brum might get someone instead in the meantime then we're stuck with an unhappy playing sucking money out while doing nothing.

Even more strange, Merida, an attacking, can play anywhere midfielder who was superb in the emirates cup, can play wing while we have no one for the right, can step in for Rosicky(maybe permanently) and really should be getting games, and we've sent him off for another year.

Why have them, pay them, get them ready for their chance, then sell or send them off. You look at Gibson and Welbeck who played fairly poorly if not flat out badly but got chances, real chances, throughout the year.

He's not Older than Gibbs...

We are hardly struggling in the midfield and attacking department though.

I'd say we may see some unhappy players as it is when Nasri comes back and if Rosicky ever gets over his injuries.

Even with Nasri and Rosicky out its unlikely that he will get much time.

You see more of Arsenal than I do but I personally think Traore is a great talent, and from what I've seen better than Gibbs

Harsh comment on Gibson and Welbeck :(

Take it with a pinch of salt. DM has his favourites and no one is allowed to say anything about them, then he has players that he hates just for the sake of hating them. Like he thinks Walcott is rubbish yet thinks Eboue is great. Enough said...

Personally Traore looks quite promising and he may even be held onto so he is extra cover for left wing with Rosicky out. But as said before he would be better off being shipped out again so he gets more games and hopefully developes some more.

Gibson has turned in a couple of half-decent performances, but Welbeck hasn't shown anything in the games I've seen him in (not many, I admit).

Traore is poor defensively, looked very out of his depth playing LB when I've seen him. I think Wenger should look to convert him into a winger, as he looked very effective there for the reserves, I remember one match in particular where he terrorised Derby, they just couldn't live with him (to be fair, Derby reserves were even worse than Derby, they couldn't even handle Djourou making runs from centrehalf...!)

As for Merida, I didn't think he was superb in the Emirates cup, he had a couple of good moments and that was it. Whenever I've seen him play he's always seemed to drift in and out of games and lacks composure at times, there was one time at the weekend when he really snatched at a shot.

All seems to have gone quiet on the Senderos front.

Merida only scored once in the reserves last season too iirc, hardly setting the world alight. Not saying he's a bad player, but he should go out on loan imo. Wilshere is a far better player already, can play across midfield and can score goals.

On Bassong, it would appear we have delayed sending the paperwork, meaning he is still a N'castle player and will complete his ban tonight.
This sounds more like it, I really can't see Spurs missing a trick like that when we just spent £8m for cover!

Bassong in - £8m
Crouch in - £9m

Bent out - £16.5m

Not a bad bit of wheeling and dealing there for a cost of £500k. About time we started getting value for money from transfers
