**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Hmm... if I had scrolled down, I would have seen it was a wind up. :p

Don’t normally do transfer news, but I was Googling Dirk Kuyt to find a ugly picture of him for a comic and came across this article. I can’t read Portuguese but I assume it’s something to do with the “Kuyt 10″ image they have.

It’s from today so maybe the papers haven’t gotten wind yet, but make of it what you will. If true, I’d guess it means Villa, Silva or Aguero is about to land at Anfield?

If you bothered to read down this far, well done. I must inform you that the article is ******** and if you change the name at the end of the URL, you can change the article to be about whoever you like.

Now go terrorise your friends :D.

You reckon Shawcross is worth more than £12m? Dont think we'd be in for him if we thought he'd cost more, as mentioned.

He is by far the better player. We also have a wealthy chairman so no need to sell for financial reasons. I can only see Shawcross leaving Stoke for silly money.

Is this Chamakh bloke any good?

London-bound? West Ham are ahead of Fulham in the race to sign Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh (right)

The 25-year-old has made it clear he will not extend his Bordeaux contract, which expires next summer, and his suitors have all refused to meet the club's £15m valuation.

An alternative offer on the table comes from Fulham, who will hand over 28-year-old Diomansy Kamara in a straight swap.

Doubt it'll be a straight swap, but Bordeaux are definitely after Kamara, could be interesting!

Benitez has just been quoted as saying

"Man City are spending money; we had to bring in quality, and [Glen] Johnson is a good player," he said of 'Pool's new right-back. "We will now look for someone to help [Fernando] Torres and [Steven] Gerrard."

Fingers crossed. :)

He lied about Johnson, what makes you think the second bit is true? ;)

I'm not sure that quote is entirely accurate. I've just watched the press-conference and it sounds as if Rafa's referring to Johnson and says he's somebody who can help Torres and Gerrard with assists.

Eboue linked with Barcelona.

Seen that too, considering the news today is Theo's out with a bad back(no idea for how long, a day, a year, who cares tbh), Djourou's out for a month, Fabianski had surgery and is out for two months at least meaning if Almunia gets crocked we are utterly and totally screwed.

Its becoming a joke and why Wenger is insisting on waiting till the last day of the window to bring people in(if he does) I don't know. All that happens is, all these people who generally don't really play properly up to the end of August, think Keane, Berbatov and others, who know they are going just don't know where, aren't training properly, aren't match fit because everyones scared an injury will screw everything up, so you buy a player whose not match fit, and you're already a month into the season.

Maybe Keane if he was bought by Benitez in say June, with a full preseason getting ready with the squad, training, practicing new formations and learning to play with the players might have been great. As it was Pool's new one striker system was already being used, he moved to a team playing a different way asking a different job of him.

Fergie bought his key players with time to intergrate them into the team as have "most" major competing sides. Its not a great sign that rather than building a team to win we're doing our hardest to save 1-2mil and get a budget player, especially when ignoring every key problem in the team.

Exactly what I was thinking, but as Baz said I think he just worded it strangely and was talking about Johnson.

Oh no, our third-choice centre back, second-choice not-actually-that-good goalkeeper and fringe first teamer/bench warmer are out injured! Heaven forbid we sell our back-up right-back too! Surely we will be doomed!

Arsenal striker Nicolas Bendtner hopes that a change of squad number from 26 to his lucky number 52 will improve his fortunes in front of goal.
Full story: The Sun
However, Bendtner's decision to change number has not got off to the best start as he faces a £10,000 bill from Arsenal after offering to reimburse fans who bought replica shirts bearing his old number

There's 300 fans with Bendtner shirts?

Sunderland midfielder Grant Leadbitter appeared at Gateshead magistrates court on Monday pleading special reasons why he should not be banned for a speeding offence. After being clocked at 112mph, the 23-year-old said he thought he was being followed by a car full of angry Newcastle fans before discovering that it was actually the police.

Easy mistake to make.

I did actually read that the Police car didn't turn on their lights for miles. The report I saw said he overtook the police car(no idea if it was a marked car or not), the police thought he was driving aggressively so followed him. He freaked out as he'd been in a face off with some Newcastle fans earlier and thought they were following him. He changed lanes a few times, speed up slowed down and the Police kept following him without flashing lights. He then decided to speed the heck away and when he broke the speed limit they flashed the lights.

It kind of sounds like in checking he wasn't a danger on the road they basically tailgated him for a while, late in the night by clearly following him, scared him into speeding away and fined him for speeding. If it was a marked car, it should have been obvious though if they were using high beams or something it mighta been hard to see, but if it was unmarked, with no lights till he sped seems a little odd to hold him responsible.

Whole thing sounded ridiculous tbh.

well he's our back up right back, right wing, left wing, left back and central midfielder, while all our other backups are crocked.

As for the injuries, I was merely laughing at how our players constantly get injured yet Wenger doesn't seem to notice and won't bring in decent players.

Keepers the biggest loss as if Almunia gets injured, Fab might not be great, but he's a LOT better than our other options. While I don't rate Theo, Djourou, Diaby basically at all, Wenger does, he'd probably start Diaby and Theo a lot this season, yet despite both having a horrible injury record in the past 2 years, he won't bring in someone till its too late.

Personally I don't see them as a loss to the first team at all, but Wenger DOES and still won't strengthen, thats the ridiculous situation.

Has it NEVER occured to you that he can't spend the money whenever he likes, and has to spend it very wisely? You know, the club is still paying back for a stadium they recently had built.

You know, you really get on my **** with the constant moaning about Wenger, the best manager your club has had for a LONG, LONG time.

Now STFU and GTFO.
