**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

well he's our back up right back...
Yup.
right wing
Except we probably won't be playing a formation with a right winger this season, so err, no.
left wing
Since when? Anyway, see above.
left back
Left back where we already have three left-footed natural left backs already? Haha, ok.
central midfielder
We have tons of central midfielders, you've said so yourself repeatedly.

while all our other backups are crocked.
No, some of them are crocked. A few.

Apparently Fulham ready for 2 'shock' signings, which are rumoured to be Mark Viduka and Damien Duff.

The Kamara/Chamakh swap could still take place too;

And he added in L'Equipe: "My representatives have been on the phone with (Bordeaux president Jean-Louis) Triaud. People have also spoken about a possible exchange with Marouane Chamakh.

"But Laurent Blanc hasn't called me. And when a coach doesn't phone you, that signifies that a club doesn't really want you.

"It would have been an honour for me to be coached by Laurent Blanc. But my priority now is Fulham. We must stop talking about me at Bordeaux."

Hmm!

Newcastle sign Danny Simpson on loan for 6 months.

I know there's a lot of knowledgable Man Utd fans on here :p So what's he like guys?

I'm surprised Fergie risked sending a youngster into our mess.

Just like all the other young lads the club churn out that dont get people blowing their wad every time they talk about him.

He's Ok, but you can tell by the amount of times he's been loaned out and his age, considering the club consistently calls on O'Shea to play right back, that he does not really have a future at the club.

Well he already sounds better than Ryan Taylor. ;)

Originally he did look to be a future RB at Utd, till Rafael etc hit it off over here, now considering hes older than them all, he wont really have a chance. He looked very good at Blackburn was it? But then got dropped for a few bad performances.

danny simpson, chris eagles, john oshea, jonathon spectre, evans, that midfielder, bellion, dong, jonathon greening, plus about 50 other no-joes all the same grey player...never in a hundred years good enough to play for man utd.
all touted as being great youth... bad luck to those who end up with our ex youth players imo.

O'Shea and Evans still play for Man U . I don't care if Simpson isn't good enough for Man U, just was him to be better than Taylor, which won't be that hard.

Has it NEVER occured to you that he can't spend the money whenever he likes, and has to spend it very wisely? You know, the club is still paying back for a stadium they recently had built.

You know, you really get on my **** with the constant moaning about Wenger, the best manager your club has had for a LONG, LONG time.

Now STFU and GTFO.

YOu do of course realise own public books show we make 30million MORE A YEAR AFTER LOAN REPAYMENTS.

So if we made 20mil profit a year at HIghbury, we make about 80million profit at the Emirates, of which 30mil a year goes on loan repayments leaving us with a total of 50million profit vs the previous 20mil profit.

We've also made a killing in the transfer market so far and EACH AND EVERY BOARD MEMBER has said we have money to spend and are willing to bankrole whatever he wants. Wenger doesn't want to spend, he WAS our best manager. Not every manager stays brilliant throughout their career, infact almost every manager ever in football eventually goes stale at a club and ends up leaving only for someone to come in and refresh a team. Theres only 2-3 managers in the history of football who have managed to be successful, go years without winning anything and bring success back to the club. Infact the only manager I can name whose done so is Fergie(but then he had a pretty bad spell to start at Utd).

As for Weebull, nitpicking pedantary at its best, Eboue played at left back once/twice last season, left wing multiple times, right wing multiple times central midfield in most of our preseason(last year) right back multiple times. This preseason he's played left back once, right back, right wing and left wing.

Pretending that a slightly pushed up left/right winger are strikers, despite playing on the wing, is even more ridiculous. Arshavin, Bendtner, Theo, Rosicky, Ramsey, Eboue, Wilshire, Eduardo, RVP and Traore have all played "the wing" in preseason and we'll continue to play a lone striker and 2 wingers all season. Almost every single story I've seen on Arsenal talks about there 4-3-3 with a lone striker role, everyone else on earth regards the two incredibly wide men as wingers. Messi and Henry(at Barca), Duff and Robben, Malouda and Kalou are all damn wingers.

San Jose has reportedly joined Atletico Bilbao on loan with an option to sign him at the end of the season. If this goes through then our hunt for another CB will surely be stepped up considering he was being used as our 4th choice cb in pre-season.

Hope so, at the moment we're looking horribly light at the back.

In theory 3 first team CB's should be enough but we can't rely on Agger being fit at the moment and all it takes is for 1 (or both as it happens) of Skrtel or Carra to pick up a small knock and we're relying on a kid. It looks like both Carra and Skrtel are going to be fit for the weekend and that Agger isn't far away but Agger's back problem is a concern.

It's a difficult situation though; who can we sign that's going to be good enough to come in and do a decent job for us but will be content with being 4th choice? Maybe we should have offered Sami that extra year he wanted.

Doesn't look like Viduka is joining Fulham after saying hes taken a rest or something, but definitely in talks with Damien Duff at the moment. Also confirmed Hodgson is looking at another 2-3 players on top.

i know, depressing isnt it...o@shea is a terrible player. looks like a fish out of water every time.

Evans, give it 12 months and he will have moved on too.

name a current member of our first 11-13 who came through as youth in the last 5 years..

thats right, no-one can because all of our recent youth have failed to make the grade.

we bought macheda so that doesnt cont either.
