**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

My nan with a blindfold is better than Ngog:p

Hoddle started this BS at the weekend, Spurs do have a good squad, in some positions they have comparable quality in positions, upfront yep, in the middle and flanks not a chance, at the back Bassong is the only non crock, Ekotto is a bit like johnson at pool, good going forward, buit suspect at the back, Bale,Dawson and Chimbomba are bottom half prem quality at best.

I still think they will do well, as their 1st 11 is better than Villa and Everton's,top 5 deffo, 4th if Arsenal Or Liverpool lose it big time.

All i know is that its gonna be a cracking season.

Bale,Dawson and Chimbomba are bottom half prem quality at best.

I don't agree at all. He has obvious talent, and like Assou Ekotto, needs to work on his defensive positioning but is even better than BAE when going forward. So much so, he makes a good LM.

As for Dawson, when partnered with an experienced CB, he can be great. Any of those fighting for Europa Cup places would benefit from having him in the squad.

Well I'm not going to speak for the other teams players. But Evans and Brown are almost certainly better than Bassong and Dawson, Brown has many years experience at the highest level of club football and international football, Evans is young but is already an international regular and part of the defence that held the clean sheet record last year. Considering Vidic and Ferdinand is probably the best central defence partnership in the league at the moment, him stepping up in his first season when Rio and Nemanja were out at various times shows how talented he is.

Yay! Actually addressing the content of my posts and not reading something else into them, I thank you! :D

I ignored Brown as I got the impression he was your first choice right back these days? As for Evans he does look a good prospect, but he's only played 17 league games for you. Not enough to really judge. Dawson has 117 premiership games under his belt and formed a rock solid partnership with King in 05-06. He gets slated on here but he is a quality player who very rarely loses headers and is capable of delivering accurate long passes that often start attacks. Personally I'd rather have the awesome Dawson. ;)

Bassong looks to be a good player, not seen enough of him to really judge fairly but he looks a snip at £8m.

*Bangs head*

Call me an optimist but I haven't been this confident about Spurs in a long time. Mainly because we have consistently had massive changes to the squad over the past 5 seasons, this season is the first where we've not seen wholesale changes either by choice or by Utd poaching. If the team continues to gel and improve who knows what will happen.

+1 on this. I've been getting rather fed up with transfer activity over the past 4 or 5 seasons. The frequent changing of managers and background staff hasn't helped either. I firmly believe we have the foundations in place for a good season. Harry is well respected and at least the player understand him unlike Ramos. We don't have Europe to bog us down either this which should help too. I'm a bit of a pessimist when it comes to Spurs so only time well tell.

Fair enough, those Brazilian brothers look good going forward, they any good at defending though? I also forgot about O'Shea because he seems to fill in every position. :D

Yeah they're not bad, better tacklers than you would expect from brazillian full backs, especially Fabio. They just have the impulse of youth at the moment, a bit to quick to dive in at times instead of being patient, that'll come with experience though. As for O'Shea, I constantly forget about him when trying to work out what depth we have where, he seems to have settled down as a right back recently though. He played centre back against Birmingham, but only because we literally had no other choice. Fabio is more likely to be played at left back if Evra is out I think.

Stag :(

I made a nice list for you :(

Sorry there was a flurry of posts and I missed it. ;)

That is just a list though and not a counter to my point with specific positions unlike what Shami posted.

Alex, Ivanovic, Evans, Brown, Fabio, Ballack, Deco, Eboue, Song, Diaby, Kalou, Belletti, Anelka (maybe), Vela, Ramsay, Rosicky, Senderos, Wilshire, Tosic, Park, Foster, Voronin... can't be bothered to list anymore.

There, are some of the "replacements" for the top four, that I'd say are better then some of the replacements that Spurs have.

I actually said Chelsea didn't have any weaknesses in comparison and was only talking about specific areas. So in your list the ones in bold are the ones who address my point.

Liverpool up front and Arsenal's defensively minded midfielders are the ones I was interested in. Do you really think Voronin is better than Crouch? Fair does.

Ramsay and Song I guess would be the ones to compare Huddlestone to, Ramsay looks a good prospect and I imagine should get a few games this season. Currently I'd rather have Huddlestone than him but who knows how good he's going to be. As for Song can't say I rate him, but I've not seen him play recently and apparently he's improved no end, though isn't he first choice to partner Fabregas or is that Denilson?

:)

15m for a 30 year old defender :/
Yep. Just sign a defender on the cheap because we're skint and now we're after one that costs £15 million pounds... apparently :o

The tabloids have better quality reporting than some of the broadsheets now and the last paragraph sums up why.

'The Liverpool manager has now agreed a £2 million deal to sign the Greek defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos from AEK Athens. However, the Merseyside club face a lack of defensive cover with both Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger out, while Sami Hyypia, is yet to be replaced after joining German outfit Bayer Leverkusen in May.'

Is yet to be replaced? Why the **** did we just sign Nick the Greek then you tards?

There's possibly a tiny element of truth in that article. I wouldn't be suprised if we had made some kind of enquiry for Upson but there is no way in a million years that we were going to pay anything close to £15m.

I'd willingly admit that Spurs have a damned good squad at the moment, but they'll almost certainly struggle without Modric or Palacios for any extended period of time. The latter is their only decent DM, and the former their only real creative outlet. I'd say Defoe is their only natural goalscorer as well, unless Keane finds his old form again soon.
