**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

It will all end in tears at Middle EastLands mark my words. Bar some of the players he bought last year, a lot of the players city have bought have all had hissy fits in one way or another.

Tevez, Toure, Adebayor, Santa Cruz, Robhino, Barry and now Lescott. MCFC or MerCenary FC ???

I don't think they'll have too much to worry about from the likes of Barry or Lescott but can see problems coming from their forwards when inevitably a couple of them get left out of the side.

The only problem being that Barry and to a lesser extent Joleeeen are both very very over rated

Manchester City are paying over the top, for over rated players.
Very simple.
Who ever they buy from now on, they'll be forced to pay over the top odds if they want him, as clubs will see them as an easy target and an easy way to make some money.

£24 million for Lescott is a fantastic deal from an Everton point of view, that 24 million will go along way to help improve the squad.

Lescott is only interested in the money, he's a very average defender going by "World Class standards" imo.

I personally think Barry is very underrated and for £12 million is probably been their best bit of business to date. I think Villa will struggle to finish in the top 6 without him and will probably be fighting Everton for 7th come the end of the season.

Definitely. I was just reffering to the hissy fit comment. I don't think Lescott caused much fuss at Everton other than making it clear he wanted to leave and although Barry did kick up a big fuss last summer, once it was over he got on with it and it didn't affect his performances for Villa last year.

edit: @ Pigeon: If you're just looking at his price and the way the market's been this summer then yes, he was cheap. He's not an outstanding CM though, he's a very good 1.

If its £24m for Lescott then its way over the top! He is an average defender in my eyes. Had his good and bad games like everyone else. Never really highly consistant.

How much did they pay for Toure now?

Players are worth what other clubs are prepared to pay to get them. Doesn't matter how much money any club has, if they it don't see it value for money or the player isn't worth what is being asked then they are free to spend it elsewhere.

Didn't Rooney cost closer to £30mill?

£24mill is silly money for Lescott, players like Nesta, Thuram, Carvalho and Rio all went for above £20mill and Lescott is not even close when you compare him to that lot. Those Arabs at City have way too much money so it doesn't really matter to them.

Citeh WILL break the Sky4 sometime soon, if not this season then probably next. Who ever they replace will be in very deep **** and they all know it. Another Leeds/Newcastle on the cards?

Ok so you're in charge of one of the Sky4 right now, knowing you could be the one City replaces.... what safety measures would you try getting setup right now?

I wonder when (if they haven't already) they try to apply for the Premiership to get 5 CL places??

Indeed, I was half expecting a story like this all summer.

Losing out on the Champions League would be a massive disaster for the Sky4.

I can't see Manchester City gate crashing that part for a season or so at least.

Rooney was 30m overall, but a lot of clauses afaik. No idea how many of them have been fulfilled.

Seeing as he has won everything with Utd - I cant see what we would have escaped from paying for

Not that he isnt worth £30, most certainly is

Still remember that hatrick on his CL debut for Utd

Most people who think Arsenal is most likely to drop out. I think its due squad size. Tend to get a lot of injuries to key players. Once they get Wallcott, Rosicky and Fabregas fully fit, Im sure they will stay up there.

None of the big 4 this season havn't got anything to worry about. Thats if City dont spend another £100m in January on some oversea's talent though :p
