£24m , Everton must be peeing themselves laughing

Of course, 24 million for a player that leaves massive gaps and leaves the over CB exposed when he pushes too far forward. It was Jag that held us together last year not lescott but lescott gets the plaudits because of the goals he chipped in with.

24 million for a CB whose 27 and has a rebuilt knee, who didn't pass the medical to join everton.

The only trouble is it leaves us with one CB now in the squad and causes more shuffling about in the back four. This year we should have bought a rightback to replace hibbert.

Unless we can bring in a couple of replacements we are in trouble, we managed a season with next to no forwards but won't survive in the EPL with next to no forwards and defenders.

I was reading somewhere yesterday about one of this summer's transfers:

Manager "I bet you have been tapped up for ages"

Player " Yes, just like when you signed me"

(they didnt name or even hint who the two where)

even funnier is that Utd are meant to be offering Spurs £10m + Carrick for Modric!!!

Modric is good - and maybe he would be a good addition, but I cant see Utd getting rid of Carrick (even if there has been a recent spat between SAF and MC, which sounds strange given the charachter of the latter)

(mind you Utd are also linked to Robben for £20m today too, which is just as unlikely)

manager is bound to be redknapp..dodgiest deals around

Any Spurs transfers are handled by Levy.

Redknapp just names the man he wants.

well i guess i was the only one dissapointed with him almost single handedly costing us the CL final, and managing to pick off the keeper vs burnely. maybe my memory is too long?

so the 150 games before that he has played for the club mean nothing?

The three titles, and CL win in 2008 not to mention anything else he has contributed to are obviously completely forgotten

Blaming any one game on one player is beyond a joke - he is exactly 1/11th to blame for the Rome debacle, hardly anyone turned up ready to play that night (for Utd), and he played with a broken foot.

Yes he may have been totaly responsible in taking that penalty - but you have to ask why a striker isnt taking pens to start with, or a free kick taker at least. Even without the pen Utd should have beaten them, but again the loss wasnt ONLY his responsibility

I don't see the problem with Carrick. I like him.

Carrick is a good midfielder.

He's spent most of the past couple of seasons playing more defensively because of the injury to Hargreaves and how United play. He's not brilliant in this position but he's far from bad.

But it seem's like hes being blamed for ferguson not replacing/getting adequate cover for Hargreaves. :/

Indeed, I said last season that Carrick was far from outstanding trying to cover two positions in the midfield. I thought he did well, and was is a good player, he's doing very well considering the lack of a natural defensive midfielder at United.

He'll come in to his own once Hargreaves is fit, or if Fergie buys a defensive midfielder.

Shows how much of a good player and professional player Carrick is, he's played slightly out of position / comfort zone and is still doing very well, and winning things.

Greening has joined Fulham :)

Fulham Football Club can today confirm the season-long loan signing of Jonathan Greening from West Bromwich Albion which, it is anticipated, will become a permanent move next summer.

Good signing, especially if Murphy is injured for a few weeks.
