It will all end in tears at Middle EastLands mark my words. Bar some of the players he bought last year, a lot of the players city have bought have all had hissy fits in one way or another.
Tevez, Toure, Adebayor, Santa Cruz, Robhino, Barry and now Lescott. MCFC or MerCenary FC ???
AFAIK Toure, Ade, Santa Cruz, Robinho, Barry and Tevez are all players who did nothing.
Toure isn't in Wengers first team plans and wanted to move, no fuss, no bother, done quickly and easily. Tevez, was a free agent, Adebayor was shipped out this summer and didn't actually insist on a move himself, even if he was looking for a move last summer. Santa Cruz, hardly a fuss made, Robinho only kicked up a stink after Real Madrid tried to get rid of him in a part transfer, so it was very clearly the club making the first move in getting him out.
Barry last year got back to action and played great all year without refusing to play or being deemed "not in the right midset to play" and this years transfer was easy and quick.
Isn't Lescott the only player who has actually requested a transfer to get a move to city?
The simple fact is, I'd be incredibly suprised if any less than 99% of transfer couldn't have been considered as tapping up. Theres very little point a club putting in offers for players without knowing from agent/player there is at least an interest in moving.
So what, whats so wrong with asking a player if he'd like to come to your club?
Is it not fine to interview for new jobs while continuing to work at your current job in every other professional job in the world?
