Indeed, I dont know who is coaching the spanish young keepers, but they are certainly churning out top top quality keepers one after the other. Casillas, Reina, De Gea. Here we are struggling to get one top quality one for our national side and Spain are throwing them out like theres no tomorrow.

Don't forget Valdes. De Gea can't even get into the Spanish squad because of Casillas, Reina and Valdes.
Is there a source other than Tw*tter for all this Modric stuff?
Of course not and that TransferUpdate guy looks like he's full of **** too.

Well De Gea is only 21 :p How many other top international sides have keepers that young?

I wasn't knocking De Gea you tart. I was following up Tombstones post about the quality of Spanish keepers, saying that he's forgot Valdes and that a keeper as good as De Gea can't even get into the squad.

Understandable. Sanchez favours a move to Utd, Sanchez favours a move to Barca, Sanchez can't decide, Utd will sign 1 of Nasri or Sneijder, Utd aren't bidding for Nasri or Sneijder but Defour and now Defours off and it's Modric :o

Always with a EXCLUSIVE @ specific time, presumably in an attempt to get more hits.

IF true and a big IF, Should Modric go it would just open the gates for likes of Bale/Lennon etc to walk also.

I really did wonder if that quote from Redknapp a week or two ago about, if Modric goes then what chance have we got for Bale, was more along the lines of encouraging bids for the both rather than neither. Like if a big bid temps Modric and he leaves, while they wouldn't want to lose Bale, Bale might want out and a big bid could get him too.

The simple thing is, theres no business sense to keep Modric, or Bale, or Lennon, if you can get 20mil for Lennon, replace him. Unless its Xavi, Fabregas, Ronaldo, Messi, theres basically no one who isn't completely replaceable in football. The rest is a numbers game, give Modric a bump to 120k a week, or cash in at 35mil(more than he's worth), bring in the next Modric, get 40mil for Bale from City, get the next Bale for 1/4 of the cost and lower wages.

Barca sell great players, Arsenal at their peak when still winning things sold great players, Real, Utd, Chelsea have all lost great players, its not a sign of being a selling club, its simply good business, nothing more or less. Sell Modric, Bale and if you can get 20mil for Lennon take it, then buy, Mata, and Alvarez, and Eto'o, and Forlan.

Maybe Modric is behind there aswell, they aren't holding it very high at all ;)

Saw the Arsenal thing earlier, if only getting rid of him was that easy :p

I'll be glad when it's finally official, the kid looks like he has the all makings of being the best keeper in the world
So will I. I've hardly touched FM11 since the end of the season. I knew Utd would be buying several players so what was the point in carrying on when I can wait for FM12 and have the new players already there? :D

my only worry with De Gea is UTD won't see the best of him, i think he will be amazing, but what i see happening is UTD groom him for 5 years and then when the top 2 in spain need a new keeper, he will head home.

buying up young talent is good, but not so sure on a keeper, you don't get away with mistakes much between the sticks

You talk as if there is a world full of the best talent easily available, Bale and Modric are top players who ANY club would struggle to replace with anything like the same quality.

Spurs have arguably played the transfer merry go round more than any club in the last 5 years, it doesn't ensure anything. You can't put a price on a settled team, that's what gets results, not signing the latest form player who most likely won't cut it.

I always used to buy Young, Jones and De Gea anyway :p Prefer Hamsik or Pastore over Modric though...

edit: on a serious RL-related note, I just don't get the hype over Bale at all.

get 40mil for Bale from City
40m for Bale? with FFP starting?

Is there something wrong with you?

The only players i see joining this summer are youngsters eg Suarez and Savic and 1 big player looking like Pastore or Sanchez. Mancini wont spend any more unless the 7 eg Adebayor, Bridge are sold. Even then the players he brings in will be like the ones rumored today eg Romero.

I watched a few games and all he does is run, admittedly quite quickly, down the line and then cross badly if he isn't tackled by someone mildly competent?

He had two good games against Inter who were the European Champions at the time. That's about it as far as I can tell?
I thought he was massively over hyped last season but in his defence had he been playing for a team with a striker that could head the ball his crosses would've produced 20+ assists with ease.
