What about Kolarov then, you only bought him last season?

I used to really rate Clichy but this year he was rather average.

Medical today for Clichy apparently with him being announced official tomorrow so he can join pre season straight away.

Looking like a good signing. Only 25 with experience in Champions League etc and for 7m in today's market is a bargain tbh.

Savic also expected to have a medical next few days so he can be announced and then go back on loan to Partizian.

Are there any sources or is it still just rumour at the moment? I don't think Clichy has said anything yet, and is he really going for £7,000,000?

Kolorov is rubbish at full back isn't he? I thought he'd been played more as a left winger because he couldn't defend.

Well you cant just have one LB?
Well tbh the whole Arsenal defence was poor bar Sagna.

:)
And there are pictures of him at San Carlo which is the footballers restaurant in Manchester. Would be a bit odd to be there had it not been to do with coming to City.

He has looked awful in some games this year but he has the quality and hes looking like he will improve with a pre season and no injuries.

He hasn't been played as one, he just spends that much time there it looks like he is :D and he isn't great at it but wasn't awful.

To think a few years ago many thought Clichy was better than Evra

Pat has long since proved there really isn't any comparison

Evra hasn't played any better than before, he was and still is one of the best LB's in the world. The difference is that Clichy is no longer one of the best LB's in the world. I hope he regains whatever it is that he's lost, but he's been pretty average for a couple of seasons now.

I'm afraid that's rubbish.

Vermaelen has been injured for the entire season but proved last season that he's absolutely quality, he had a bad game against Barcelona but who doesn't? That was Koscielny's first season and bar a couple of errors he was excellent, Squillaci was quite poor but picked himself up a little bit and Djourou was again very good apart from a couple of errors. To say they're all poor is a huge mistake.

But, enjoy Clichy, I'm sure he'll spend all his time running up to the opponents box, putting a crap cross in that gets cleared, and then your opponent exploiting the massive gap that he left in defence. :)

IMO Clichy was never at Evra's level.

It was poor compared to past seasons,
Vermalen for me is in the top 3 defenders in the prem and was a huge loss. Kos i agree for his first season wasn't too bad. Djourho was good in the games i saw.

Your defence was not that bad but it has been getting worse year by year.

Well we have that with Kolarov now and we still have one of the best defences in the league so no problem there :)

I dunno, he looked very good when he first came on the scene.

People are talking like Evra is the best but IMO he's still behind Ash Cole.

Cole's problem will be age. I wonder how long he'll be able to play both full back and wing.

Yup!

What makes me cringe is when they say that a deal is close to completion when in reality a club isn't even after the player they mentioned. :p

It'll be interesting to see what happens in this upcoming week, as far as Arsenal go I think Clichy will be on his travels, probably to Man City and we'll hopefully wrap up the Gervinho deal. I still have an inkling that Nasri will sign a new contract, especially if we manage to convince him we're going to spend. I believe Gervinho and Nasri are old pals so that should cheer him up a bit.

I hope he does stay. I never knew Nasri was so disliked until it was mentioned that he might leave. I have always thought highly of him and think he has a lot of promise. I guess there are only a few of us who rate him :D

Clichy is certainly out the door and unfortunately there is a very if not definite charge of Fab going as well. I personally hope Nasri stays. I will cheer him on alone lol

TBH just as over the past few years Evra has moved past Clichy I would say the same about Cole moving past Evra

Cole's definitely the best LB in the world

So you replaced a LB who can't defend, with another LB who can't defend? God help you when Tevez goes because you really will be screwed. :p

Plus you said our defence wasn't very good a minute ago, now you're saying Vermaelen is in the top 3 CB's and that Koscielny and Djourou are good. MAKE YOUR MIND UP. :) :p

Not really, as both can defend adequately IMO.

It isn't together, you have good players but together they just didn't play well and you conceded a lot of goals.
Vermaelen is one of the best and Kos and Djh are good defenders but im just saying that this year they were poor together and that can be seen in the amount of goals you conceded.

A testament to Clichy's quality (or lack of it) is that it seems he's a player Wenger wants to/is willing to let leave, that should show the lack of faith he has in him after a good 2 or 3 poor seasons. Nasri and Fabregas he obviously wants to keep on the other hand.

It's a bonus for us though Nani can go from terrorising Clichy at Arsenal to doing the same against him at City whilst he does the same to Gibbs at Arsenal  :p

I doubt Gibbs would be first choice. Too injury prone. Vermaelen on left maybe should a Samba or Cahill come in.
