Bit annoyed about Clichy leaving for such a cut price to MC (assuming it was ~£7m as reported), surely we should be bleeding that fat cat dry. Less than half the price of Kolarov, cheaper than Wayne Bridge, seemed very cheap for a 25 year old with that much Prem experience, winners medal etc going to a rival club that has previous for paying big fees. At the very least we should have demanded Given in part exchange.

I haven't felt this low about an upcoming season in a long time. Typical Wenger though, once he decides he's had enough from a great player he often lets them go on the cheap.

I agree, while Clichy isn't a special player by any means, he is half decent.

Considering Man City are a direct rival to Arsenal and how much money they have to waste, £7m is a joke of a fee really.

Makes me think there is something more to it, the deal went from rumour to signed unbelievably quick. There was no negotiation at all from Arsenal's side.
Something more?

I agree, it was a little odd how quick it was but the deal could have been drawn out for a while but Cook/Marwood kept their mouth's closed for once hence why it was not until the last min that it was announced.

Clichy has been rumoured to leave for a couple years now to various clubs, comes across as yet another Wenger begs player to give it one more year, and he won't make it hard to leave if he still wants to next year type situation.

How many Arsenal players leave for ridiculous fee's, 7mil is cheap but then he's final year of his contract, he's FAR more than a decent player.

He's very good defensively, people are deluded, he's hung out to dry and has been for three seasons by having fairly lazy/slow or not very good players infront of him to be honest. He has made more tackles, with a higher success rate than Evra, while conceding posession less, not sure how that makes him poor defensively.

One of this biggest errors was THAT Brum game, where he made an error, then a perfect tackle, then got screwed by a retarded referee. Every single defender makes mistakes, thats life, no one could shut up about how fantastic Vidic is, and he frequently makes mistakes and resorts to rugby tackles to fix them, Clichy usually mops up his mistakes himself.

Question is, is there any truth/traction to this Song to jail story?

Jesus Christ.

So when one of your untouchables performs badly it's a different players fault? But when Song makes an error he's the worst player to ever pull on an Arsenal shirt?

Arsenal sell their first choice left back to a top 4 rival without any hesitation, seems a bit weird to me? I'm sure plenty of other clubs would have been interested in Clichy if he was made publicly available.

Liverpool were linked with him also

Where did I say that, I said he makes errors, he's hardly the error prone idiot some would have you believe, Sagna's errors have led to more goals being scored than Clichy's, by a long shot.

Generally speaking Clichy has had Denilson/Diaby playing that left central midfield role, both frequently push back to cover and help defensively, both consistantly get in the wrong places, do the wrong things, and cause problems, they are both crap players, get over it.

Song IS one of the worst players we have, Clichy rarely makes errors, again look at the stats, the second highest tackling success rate of all left backs IIRC either the highest or second highest numbers of tackles made, similar crossing/assist rate to Evra, concede's posession less than EVERY other left back in the league. One of the biggest errors he made, he fixed and that was 2 years ago.

Arsenal fans have decided he isn't good enough, not surprisingly that thinking started around last summer when he seemed to be looking to leave Arsenal.

And he was all but sold last season to Real Madrid.

He made to many similar mistakes to the game Shakhtar Donetsk last season. He would Dwell on possession too much, rather than put the ball out.

DM I seriously am at a loss as to why you "support" Arsenal. All you ever do is criticize the team, moan about pretty much every player unless they're Eboue, or they're leaving. If I looked hard enough I could probably go back to last season and see how many times you've criticised Clichy but I really can't be bothered. When did you last celebrate a win, or a goal, or any moment of happiness? I'm sure when Arshavin scored against Barca at the Emirates you had something bad to say about the build up. I'm sure when we beat Man Utd 1-0 you moaned about that too. Seriously get a grip and stop being such a ****ing moaning doom merchant.

I'm surprised RM didn't go for Clichy, Coentrao had a good WC but he's nowhere near as proven / (imo) good as Clichy and cost around 4 times as much :/ and I don't even rate Clichy, I don't care what the stats say he's not as good a player as Evra / Cole atm.
