edit: Our failure to receive a big enough offer for Aquilani might be part of the reason Meireles will be sold. While I like Meireles, Aquilani's a very similar player and imo better.

I agree, both seem to shy away from a challenge a little but Aquilani's pass and move game is a level above Meireles..

so all these stories I've been reading that Nasri is joining City are using goal.com as their source? :o

Personally I'm going all out muppet and predicting we'll sign both Nasri and Sneijder

messi is more of a forward/striker and winger.

xavi and iniesta basically play the same role and more central, they rotate around each other and play off one another, but essentially both have the same job, to pick apart teams with their passing and vision.

messi on the other hand uses skill, ball control and pace to rip apart teams.

Last offtopic post - i would love to see Messi in the Iniesta role, i reckon he would be amazing in the middle.

Fabregas ain't a patch on Iniesta though

lol, its gonna be interesting when he joins, personally i would bench pedro and play iniesta in pedro's position.

-----------------Villa
Iniesta ----------------------- Messi

----------Xavi --- Fabregas

--------Busquets or Masch ------

the players usually rotate a lot, for instance Villa moves to the wing a lot and Messi comes into a striker role a lot, so this would be there main position but they usually drift all over the place.

that to me looks like their best line up unless they do something crazy and play 3 at the back, which i doubt they would do tbh

and bring pedro on as a sub for whoever isn't playing well and rotate positions if need be.

Not for me, expect to see Iniesta (slowly) replacing Xavi, and Fabregas (slowly) moving into Iniesta's place. I mean, how can you bench Pedro? 20+ goals and 10+ assists a season, Iniesta's good but he would never replicate that playing in one of the outer forward positions.

...............GK
........Pique...Puyol...Abidal
Alvez
............Busquets
.........Xavi........
......................Iniesta
Pedro..........................Villa
..............Messi

Still their strongest team, imo.

I don't recall Aquilani every pulling out of a challenge with us. The whole question over whether he was up to the physical demands of playing over here was based on his injury record rather than his performances for us once fit; which were very good.
Still don't rate Busquets though.
While he's not a bad player, he's far from being as good as some make out. Put him in any other side and he'd hardly get noticed. In case you're suggesting Fabregas could play alongside Iniesta and Xavi (can't be bothered reading back through the last page or so) instead of him; that wouldn't work, they'd need a holding player behind them.
